Fallout 76 is not like Bethesda’s previous open-world RPGs. While these single player adventures were more forgiving campaigns where you could build your character however you wanted, that is The multiplayer spin-off is full of bullet-sponge-like enemies They require you to focus on specific skills to survive the dangers of the wasteland. Two of the most popular builds are Stealth Commando and Heavy Gunner PA.
Unlike other RPGs where you take a linear upgrade path through a sequential skill tree, Fallout 76The leveling system of plays around bonus packs that resemble baseball cards. Each time you level up from level 4 to 10, you will receive a new pack of random cards. After that, you will receive new packages every five levels. Each time you level up, you can also choose a “SPECIAL Attribute” that you want to increase. The higher the attribute, the more advantage cards of that type you can equip at a given time.
This system makes it easy to become a jack of all trades and a master of none, which is why, like any good roguelite, you’ll want to make sure you choose each new attribute and card with a specific build in mind. For survivability and to be strong enough to defeat enemies and bosses more easily, it’s important to choose just one weapon type – melee, pistol, shotgun, automatic, heavy – and focus on it. Nuclear weapons and dragons is a great tool for planning construction projects in advance.
This is where the stealth commando and heavy shooter PA (power armor) builds come into play. The Stealth Command focuses on automatic weapons, is sneaky and uses VATS (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System). The Commando cards are key as they fit into the Perception attribute and increase damage by 20 percent each. Agility cards like Sneak and Escape Artist help you stay stealthy, while Covert Agent gives you a 2.5 sneak attack damage multiplier.
Other important Stealth Command build cards include: Concentrated Fire, Tank Killer, Ground Pounder, Critical Savvy, Better Criticals, Tormentor and Gun Fu. Here is a complete build that can serve as a starting point which you can adjust as you level up. It works wonderfully with the Railway Rifle, unlocked at level 30 and purchased from Berkeley Springs Station.
Heavy Gunner PA is a little more difficult as it requires both heavy weapons and a power armor suit, but that’s the case Stand out
Other perks like Power Smith and Scrounger can improve quality of life by making it easier to find ammo and supplies. Here is a good PA guide for heavy shooters process. Two-handed weapons like the chainsaw and automatic axe are also great for power armor builds. Other players swear by Holy Fire, a legendary flamethrower from the Pack Animal Event. This also requires level 30.
These are just two of the most straightforward builds that will allow you to explore the wasteland without flinching every time you hear a Scorchbeast or spot a Deathclaw. You still have to do the hard work of scavenging for scrap, crafting gear, and staying healthy. But if you stick with one of these builds or choose another, you shouldn’t mind Fallout 76 less of a grind.
