Already in spring 2018, Sega announced the Genesis Mini, a small, plug-and-play version of its iconic console that was delayed and released the following year. Now in summer 2021, it is announced a new accessory, the Tower Mini Zero.
The accessory is purely cosmetic, like the Japan-only Tower mini (note the missing “zero” or “ZERO”!), which was originally published in 2019 and was a fake little “tower of power”.
The new accessories from Sega are a miniaturized version of the Power Base Converter, which was first launched in 1989 Performance base converter, known as the Mega Adapter in Japan, enabled the Sega Genesis to play Sega Master System games. This little take is not functional.
(If you want to play Master System games, you should get the Yakuza ground out Lost judgment!)
The original Sega Genesis Mini included 40 games, including Sonic The Hedgehog, Gunstar Heroes, Shining Force, and Castlevania Bloodlines.

Check out this from Kotaku‘s review of the Genesis Mini:
The hardware is a beauty, a perfect little replica of the 1989 starter Genesis. With interactive elements, the Genesis Mini goes one step further than other classic mini hardware. The volume control slides up and down, the spring-loaded dust flaps that cover the cassette slot open and close, and you can even remove the cover for the port that would connect the real Genesis to a Sega CD.
Actually none of these things function, Naturally. You can’t play Genesis tapes on this machine, nor is there a proportionally sized Sega CD attachment to play Sewer Shark with (although we surely all agree that we would buy such a product right away). But they make the Genesis Mini a fun little toy by itself even before you turn it on.
Officially known as the Mega Drive Tower Mini Zero (sorry, ZERO), the upcoming accessory is being resold October 21 and costs 4,950 yen. Not a word about an international release, but since the Tower Mini was only available in Japan, you cannot rely on it.
