Ubisoft’s new shooter is finally available, but matchmaking is interrupted

After years of marketing, delays, betas and name changes, XDefiant from Ubisoft is finally here and… it’s not going very well. Players are currently unable to find games as the game’s servers apparently cannot handle the large influx of players.

XDefiant– now available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC – is Ubisoft’s big-budget free-to-play game call of Duty-like first-person online shooter. The FPS had a long road to release. It was first announced in July 2021 as Tom Clancy’s XDefiantbut in March 2022, the game dropped the “Tom Clancy” part and was expanded to include characters and locations from various Ubisoft-owned franchises, such as Far away And Watchdog. The first major open beta play test took place in 2023 I enjoyed his rapid pace, Black Ops II-similar gameplay. Later in the year, it was delayed twice. But now, after all this, XDefiant is over. Good luck playing.

browse around on the internet, XDefiant is not complete broken. I found streams online of people playing it. However, in my testing on Xbox, I couldn’t join a game and was stuck in a lobby waiting for something to happen. And even players who jump into games report long wait times before they can jump into another game.

At 1:30 p.m. ESTthe official one XDefiant The Twitter account announced that “some players are unable to join a game” and asked people to wait while developers investigated the situation.

At 2:55 p.m. ESTThe account offered an update, saying that things were improving but that work was continuing to make sure everyone could get in and play the FPS.

Then at 3:50pm ESTIn response to player complaints about a lack of updates and ongoing matchmaking issues, Ubisoft posted on Twitter:

Update: We are all focused on the matchmaking issue and are investigating it on an ongoing basis. We will continue to provide updates when possible.

About an hour later, this is the last update from the main page XDefiant Account on Twitter. The players are frustrated, as you might expect. But in the year of our Lord 2024, I’m really not sure how anyone I might be surprised a large-scale online multiplatform The video game is having problems startingHopefully Ubisoft will still be able to get the game up and running without developers and engineers having to stay up late at night.
