That Unexplored Movie wasn’t great but it made a lot of money so someone decided to turn it into a roller coaster. But as I probably don’t need to tell you Unexplored was a film adaptation of Unexplored games. Which brings us to now that you are reading a story about a roller coaster based on a film adaptation of a video game franchise.
Unexplored (the film) was released back in February this year and raised about $400 million
As reported by diversity yesterdaythe Unexplored Coaster (not the movie) will open in mid-2023 at Europe’s largest theme park, PortAventura World. The park has just finalized a licensing agreement with Sony Pictures to build the upcoming Dark Ride roller coaster, which will be located in the park’s Far West Zone. The ride will be almost 2,300 feet long and over 40 feet high. The whole thing will be in a large indoor space that’s about 15,800 square feet.
“The PortAventura World team has designed an exciting ride so fans of the game and film can now follow in the footsteps of Nate and Sully and participate in their very own treasure hunt race,” said Jeffrey Godsick, Executive Vice President of Global Partnerships at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
G/O Media may receive a commission
Who knows, maybe this ride will become so popular and successful that Sony is collaborating with a games company to create a video game based on the roller coaster based on the movie, which was an adaptation of Unexplored video game series. What would this movie even be? I don’t know, but in a few weekends he’d probably rake in 250 million at the box office.
