Unreal Engine 5 demo video shows playfield named Airborn

In the air

picture: Airborn Studios

I love Unreal Engine 5 showcase videos. Can’t get enough of them. To put it bluntly, I don’t even don’t worry about how playable any of them end up being because this is an art feature not a game review section and so I’m only interested in how pretty they look and today’s presentation is really pretty.

That is In the aira video by Airborn Studios, an art studio in Berlin that we have featured a few times before, including for her incredible work on some of Overwatch’s skins:

After years of hibernation, we have decided to resume the project our studio is named after. I wonder how it would be if we dived back into this world with new ideas, a different approach, a mix of In the air Veteran and new team members, and a determination to use the latest technology to advance stylized gameplay and stay true to the core pillars of the work done long ago. And without further ado, we proudly present the result!

Airborn UE5 Showcase

When they talk about a “hibernation phase,” they’re not kidding: In the air as an idea has been on the road for over 15 years nowjust the most contemporary expression of the idea that gave the studio its name with this latest video.

It is important to note that this is not a playing field in the sense that this is something that is being actively attempted to be made. Instead – they called it a “visual prototype” in this case –It’s a way for artists to work on something that looks like a video game to show off their skills while creating something that is theirnot the intellectual property of an employer or customer.

To give you an idea of how much work goes into something like this, here is the full credits list for the project:
