Team Fortress 2 was launched back in 2007 and since then Valve has continually updated the class-based FPS. although not always as often as fans would like. And during all these updates For nearly two decades, a bug that caused Blu Team Scout’s pants to be the wrong color was never fixed. That changed yesterday.
On October 24th, without fanfare, Valve has released a relatively small update for its free-to-play shooter Team Fortress 2. The small patch, as expected, fixed and optimized various bugs and errors, but buried in the patch notes is a fix that caught the attention of Team Fortress 2′s most dedicated fans.
- Fixed issue with BLU Scout using wrong team color pants
Without any context, this might seem like another small bug that Valve fixed, but this was actually a problem TF2 since its release. And although fans have pointed this out in the past, it has never been addressed. Blu Scout’s pants have been brown for 17 years, which is wrong. His pants should be gray, just like all other classes on the Blu team. Brown pants are intended for Red Team members. But this mistake has persisted for almost two decades, despite the evidence.
And then, out of nowhere, Valve fixed the problem. Now Blu Scout’s pants are gray, which is nice, but also means a ton of community-created cosmetics because this figure looks ugly because it was designed with brown pants.
It has long been known why Valve has fixed this problem now, after 17 years TF2 Insect? We don’t know, and since Valve is notorious for not explaining many of its decisions or plans, your guess is as good as mine.
However, I have a theory about this change. Last year, around the same time, Valve has fixed a very old bug Half-life with the animation of a monster. I think towards the end of the year, Valve might let the developers do some tinkering as the holidays approach, and maybe that’s why this patch came out suddenly. Maybe someone took some free time and used it to get involved in this TF2 and correct this error?
Or maybe Valve just likes trolling fans? Maybe both! Anyway, Scout’s pants are finally the right color and we can all sleep easy knowing the world is a better place.
