Shipments for Valve’s new handheld console, the Steam Deck, have been seeping since its release, but shipments will accelerate. The company began ramping up fulfillment for the console on Monday. a tweet from Valveand those who pre-ordered the console will receive additional order availability emails weekly.
When the Steam Deck launched, those interested in buying the console were able to do so through a pre-order system. Depending on how quickly you were able to get on board, an order might have been planned for Q1, Q2, Q3 or “after Q3”. Since then, Valve has shipped purchases in the order that customers placed their orders weekly each quarter.
In addition to further orders, the company added further clarifications as to when each quarter it can expect its console to ship. According to Valve’s update, the second quarter started on Monday and the current data for the third quarter is October 2022 or later. According to Valve, “no reservation windows have been changed or moved,” and the company is merely clarifying when each quarter occurs.
The Steam Deck is a handheld console that allows you to play games in your Steam library. Valve released it in February. Ahead of the official release, the handheld was delayed multiple times, with Valve citing supply chain issues and other logistical challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
