A new multiplayer hero shooter reportedly in development at Valve leaked on Thursday in the form of gameplay details and first screenshots of the project, known as dead end. The new game is described as a mix of Valve’s own game Dota 2 And Team Fortress 2as well as competitive multiplayer games like Overwatch, Appreciation, HitAnd Orcs must die.
Long-time Valve researcher and data miner Tyler McVicker posted the in-game screenshots on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. McVicker said the images were shared by dead end
McVicker said that dead end is Valve’s next gameand that it was in development under previous names Neon Prime And citadel. He describes it as a competitive, hero-based third-person shooter in which two teams of six heroes each – a mix of “wizards, strange creatures and robots” – fight against each other. de ad end

Screenshots from dead end References to MOBA-inspired elements such as bases and guards that would attack heroes, as well as collectible orbs that can boost abilities. Of course, all of this can change dead end has not been officially announced.
McVicker reported this dead end was originally conceived as a science fiction game “inspired by Half-Life and Portal,” but feedback on the game’s aesthetics led Valve to “focus on fantasy.” He also released artwork and a character description of a hero from the game, who also apparently goes by the name Deadlock. Valve has reportedly been working on it dead end since 2018.
Polygon has reached out to Valve to confirm details dead end and will be updated when the company responds.
Valve boss and co-founder Gabe Newell said in 2021 that his company has several games in development. Last September, Valve shipped one of these games, Counter Strike 2a replacement for his hugely popular first-person shooter, Counter Strike Global Offensiveoriginally published in 2012. Newell also suggested in 2021 that there was “a lot of momentum within the company” to develop more single-player games as shipping continues Half-Life: Alyx in 2020.
For now, however, it appears that Valve’s interest lies in multiplayer and merging the gameplay of its most popular team games.
