The PSP is long dead. The Playstation Vita too. But long live Valve’s Steam Deck, a handheld that is just around the corner and thanks to Sony’s new PC gaming push will finally do it the dream play the company’s biggest blockbusters on a small portable device.

While the initial units do not ready to go Shipping until December, Developers have already got their hands on the Steam Deck and are tweeting pictures of their games playing. The latest person to take part in the media blitz is none other than Shuhei Yoshida, head of independent development at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Today he tweeted a picture of the device running Horizon Zero Dawn. We have no idea how it will play out in action yet, but it looks beautiful for a photo of a screen compressed by Twitter dot com. It’s also what PlayStation pOrtable fans have been dreaming for years.

the Promise of the PS Vita was that it allows players to take big blockbusters with them on the go. So Sony started it with one Unexplored ground up, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and followed him with adaptations, like his other major franchises at the time Resistance: Burning Sky and Small big planet PS Vita. A couple of years later Killzone: mercenaries followed. Sony even convinced 2K Games to give it a try and bet Borderlands 2 thereon. And of course that was the case curriculum vitae Bioshock game that never came down to the floor. The experiment failed in what led many to believe it was doomed to fail, a theory that was refuted years later when Nintendo was released Breath of the wild on switch.

Now it looks like Sony is getting another unlikely bite into this apple thanks to the crossing of two surprising new trends: Valve is getting into handhelds and Sony is getting into Steam. Valve is currently busy securing every game in its catalog can run on the Steam Deck, and meanwhile Sony has apparently reiterated its commitment to porting its console exclusives to PC this week with the discovery of a PlayStation PC brand. first reported by VGC.

The company recently announced this God of War would come and join the platform in January 2022 Horizon Zero Dawn and Days gone, while Uncharted: The Legacy of Thieves Collection follows later in the year. More are on the way, GQ reported in an interview with SIE CEO Jim Ryan in February, with 2018 Spider Man to be the next logical choice (it came out just a few months later God of War). References for the last year Sackboy: A great adventure were also recently discovered in Steam’s database.

This means a lot of things, including that Steam Deck owners will soon finally be able to finally play many of Sony’s greatest games on the go. Hopefully with smooth frame rates and no crashes. I suddenly feel less like an idiot when pre-ordering one. Who knows, maybe Helldivers will do it back from the dead.
