The New York Coteries tell the story of several teams set up around the Big Apple. Bands of vampires, of course. The protagonism is taken up by one of three playable characters, each very different from the others, who is recruited forcefully into the Camarillas community by a lawyer with the appearance of Dracula.
It's not like a nightmare or a bad dream, but there is a midwife named Sophie to accept it under her protection. Not to forget, of course, that you're already part of a plan to defeat New York against other vampire groups.
From the first minute, it is clear that this is a love book for Black World fans, a fantastic proverbial tale, and vampire mythology lovers in general. They also remembered all these thoughts as night-time activities, social awareness, loss of energy, powerful and superhuman abilities or good practice of monitoring dead people. They are all clichés, but alright, they're used to them.
As you progress, you find yourself on the journey, some set for specific hours of the day. They usually last about a night and a half, and since the game lasts for twenty nights, you have to choose according to your priorities because you can't do them all. It's encouraging to come back for a second and third round if you want to know all that happened with the allegations surrounding the Big Apple.
Graph, we would describe it as a refreshing oil painting with dialogue. Almost nothing goes down the aisle and there is some change of focus to give some power to what would otherwise be static images. However, it extends life's gratitude to the choice of color, play of light and dignity and artistic style. It has the power to send a message without being too informative, especially in certain situations.
Vampire: Masquerade – New York cartoons is a graphic novel, and that means there's a lot of text to read, that's the basis of the game. You will have to talk to a lot of people, even though you don't have to listen to everything they say, because there is a way to end conversations when making a decision, and your consequences.
With all this work to create the environment we're talking about, the problem is that it can't make a name for itself and express it completely. The New York Coteries are trying their hardest to tell a powerful, multifaceted and dark story, but the dialogues are not always good for this purpose and some phrases are not successful anywhere. There are some very interesting, intriguing and complex characters, but some of them cut across are flat and insubstantial.
With the characters the way the game's foundation should be done, relationships have an effect on the decisions of the game. Draw Mandu has tried to outline when the results are difficult, and it is very interesting because it creates changes in the plans. Yes, they are very extreme with this metaidea, which is evident from the very beginning, which happens to have put them together using the common sense. There are ridiculous cuts throughout the episode. It happened to us, and more than once, that we couldn't take the game where we wanted to when our character opened his mouth. As in Callout 4. The bad thing is that it causes negative inertia and, if you continue, that's when you have to think about it for a certain amount of fear instead of letting it flow at a positive rate.
One of the biggest problems vampires face in New York is to get rid of their thirst for blood. If you drink too much, you will release the beast you have inside, which is a distraction to all your peers around you. But if you do not drink enough, you weaken and lose the skills to intimidate or illuminate your conversations. That is also expressed in the text, but it doesn't have all the weight it could use.
These are the choices you should read when playing this Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York, which, besides being a masterpiece, is seen as the best visual representation of this fantastic series of novels. It has the best characters and others that seem to exist just for the sake of it, and the result system works, even though there is so much to convey. It's a product that Fedness World readers will love and can satisfy those who must quench their thirst until the big delayed project, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
