Action survival roguelike Vampire survivors is already one of the best offers in gaming. For five bucks you get an endlessly replayable pastime full of unlockable characters, dozens of weapons to experiment with, and clever secrets to discover. The game’s latest add-on, From Castlevaniasomehow manages to make the original offering seem weak in comparison.

From Castlevania Features a huge new stage to explore, vaguely reminiscent of Dracula’s castle. There are some inspirations from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night to its structure, as the map contains replicas of boss arenas and teleportation rooms that you can move around the massive footprint. But exploring on foot is one of the best ways to appreciate what developer Poncle has created here with its homage to the Metroidvania-style maps that made the Castlevania series popular again.
Poncle advertised From Castlevania with “over 20 new characters”, including various Belmonts, Belnades, good old Alucard and lots of deep series cuts. Without giving away any surprises, “20-plus” hilariously undercuts the number of new characters players can unlock and play as in the DLC.
