After almost ten years of waiting, we finally have the first (officially approved) Gameplay footage from Dragon Age: The VeilguardBioWare has released 20 minutes of the game in action, in which the new protagonist Rook and his crew explore the magical city of Minrathous, fight demons and work to inquisitionof Solas, the surprise antagonist who destroys the world.

The trailer shows part of The Veil GuardianIn this opening segment, new protagonist Rook helps returning heroes Varric and Harding search for Solas in the capital of Tevinter. The Veil Guardian returns to Dragon Age IIThe three-voice dialogue options allow you to choose between a diplomatic, a humorous or an aggressive statement. But that’s not the only part of the game that recalls the controversial 2011 sequel.

The Veil Guardian is by far the most action-oriented Dragon Age game, and it almost looks like a character action game in the style of the early God of War or Bayonetta in some places. Some of the scenes and passages reminded me of Star Wars Jedi: Survivorso at first glance it feels like it will inspire many action games. While you can still pause the action to select skills and strategize, it definitely feels like a huge step away from the tactical combat of the original. Dragon Age: Origins. The combat looks pretty solid, but your performance may vary depending on whether this is the direction you were hoping for or not.
