On April 20th, developer Fatshark released a new content pack for Warhammer: Vermintide 2 on the PC. After some early queuing issues and a hotfix, the mode can now be played for all players in the game, either other players or bot controlled allies.
The expansion of Chaos Wastes is pretty meaty for a free update. There’s a new game mode with new maps and environments to explore. Chaos is the main antagonist here. So expect things to be inherently unpredictable.
The players first choose their route through an expedition map. Each mission node lists the specific characteristics and explains who to expect and if there are complications in store. If you play with friends, you can choose to do so as a team, or you can roll with bots and go at your leisure if you are not the social type. Each expedition requires players to find and upgrade their own equipment by completing trials and trading coins.
The four Chaos Gods – Slaanesh, Khorne, Tzeentch, and Nurgle – can all come out to play. Sometimes Nurgle inflicts a deadly curse on the group, while another level can be interrupted by a huge Khorne castle.
Chaos Wastes is currently available on PC. A release date for consoles has yet to be announced.
