Rayark, the creators of excellence Cytus Rhythm Action Games (which we have already reported), have faced allegations this week that some of the company’s artists have been fired and replaced with, you guessed it, machine-generated imagery.
As gamer braves reportThe controversy began last week when Korean players noticed some quirks about some of the game’s newer graphics. In one instance, a character had six fingers, while in other images the character’s clothing and hair appeared to be cut off and ended in odd places, both telltale signs that an image was computer-generated.
Another tweet from a former artist who worked on it cytus 2called:
As a former art director of Cytus2
I feel a little gross when I see all the effort and quality control we’ve put in turn into shoddy AI bullshit.
To be honest, I’m so glad I left the company.
In response to the allegations, Rayark issued a statement denying the layoffs. They also say reports that they use machine-generated imagery in their games are “completely false,” but then spend much of the testimony talking about how they’re conducting extensive research into the technology and even “recruiting more members with it.” have”. Al expertise to improve our development processes and to provide education and training related to Al support.”
Regarding the recent false rumors circulating on the internet that Rayark Games uses Al technology in its artworks and fired a significant number of artists, we would like to clarify that these rumors are completely false.
Recently, there have been numerous articles and discussions on social media platforms and online forums speculating and discussing Rayark’s use of Al technology. We respect different opinions and ideas, but unfortunately some of the content shared is based on mistranslations of our previous statements and false reports. To prevent the further spread of misinformation, we would like to clarify the situation regarding these false allegations.
Creativity and expression through art have always been of paramount importance to Rayark. Our artistic team is encouraged to expand their skills and showcase their talents at every opportunity. We also encourage continuous learning, growth and refinement of our game productions. Advancement in the artistic field not only strengthens our creative power, but also enables us to give our best to the community.
In anticipation of the impact Al Generated Content (AIGC) will have on the industry, Rayark is closely monitoring AIGC’s potential impact on the gaming industry at large. We research, experiment with new tools and prepare as best we can for a rapidly changing world.
The use of AI tools during the development process could gradually become a trend across the gaming industry. In light of this transition, Rayark is taking an open-minded approach to learning while humbly accepting feedback and suggestions from players. In order to establish more efficient processes and achieve technological breakthroughs, we did not lay off any artists during this time. On the contrary, we have recruited more members with Al expertise to improve our development processes and provide Al support training and education to prepare for the challenges of the upcoming AIGC era.
Rayark remains committed to our player base and developing quality IPs. We really appreciate the community’s continued support and open discussions. As we continue down this path in the gaming industry, we will continue to do our best and push the limits of our creativity.

Why hire additional people with “AI expertise” when you could have just hired more artists instead? This technology drove people crazy.
