“A beggar’s story” is a Dragon’s Dogma 2 Side quest that you can pick up shortly after you arrive in Vernworth, one of the main hubs.
During the day you will notice a beggar named Albert standing near the fountain telling bizarre stories and tales. As he walks by, a guy named Benton will wonder where the beggar makes his money. Of course, this obligation lies with you.
You might be tempted to stand there and watch the beggar all day long, but you don’t need to worry about that as you just need to come back at the right time. Here is how to complete A Beggar’s Tale In Dragon’s Dogma 2 and find out how the beggar makes money.
How to follow the beggar in A Beggar’s Tale
Conduct your other business around Vernworth during the day until the sun goes down, then return to the fountain. Eventually Albert the beggar will leave his post and walk away. Then you should follow him. Timing is crucial here. If you’re late, he’ll already have left.
He goes to the slums and visits them Walter’s Tavern. Stay with him because eventually he will leave and go to his house Vernworth Common Neighborhood. (This is just around the corner from the house you can purchase from Mildred in the quest “A Place to Call Home.”)
When he enters his house, wait outside until he shows up in a different, much fancier outfit. Once he leaves, go into his house and collect his clothes beggar’s robe. When you have the clothes in hand, two quest markers should appear on your map. One leads to a house in the Noble Quarter, while the other leads back to Walter’s Tavern.
Go back to Walter’s Tavern and you will find Celina, Albert’s wife. You have the option to give her the beggar’s robe, but there is no need to do this yet. You know Albert is up to no good, but you’re not sure what.
Go to the marker in the Noble Quarter and you will find Albert with a woman named Hilda, who it turns out is Albert’s lover.
Who to give the Beggar’s Robe to in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Now the decision is yours because you have three options. You can return the beggar’s robe to Albert and let him continue as he is. You can give it to Celina so she can learn about her husband’s infidelity and the lies he keeps up while living a secret second life. Or you give it to Hilda, the mistress. Here are the results of each option:
- If you return the beggar’s robe to Alberthe will continue his double life and reward you with 5,000 gold and 900 XP.
- If you give Celina the beggar’s robe, you must wait until the next morning and then return to Albert’s house in the Common Quarter. There will be a guard outside who reveals that Celina murdered Albert and then killed herself. You will receive 3,000 gold, a midday blossom and 900 XP.
- If you give Hilda the beggar’s robe, you have to wait until the next morning and then return to your house in the Noble Quarter. She will reward you with three Onyx Stones and 900 XP.
