“The Shadow of the Awakened” is a quest you will begin with Dragon’s Dogma 2is the town of Vernworth. It’s not a quest you want to start – it simply appears after you start working with Captain Brant.

How to start the Shadow of the Awakened quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2
When you start poking your nose into the affairs of the palace in Vernworth – by completing a few of Captain Brant’s various quests – you’ll start to take notice in the town. We got it after completing Monster Culling.

After speaking to Brant and leaving the tavern, you will receive this “The Shadow of the Awakened” Quest with the goal “Fight with your pursuer. Your farmers will probably comment on it and say something like, “I feel eyes on us.”

Her pursuer is a man named Bermuda shorts. He wears an all-brown outfit and wears a hood. Your first task is to discover him. It’s actually not that easy, especially in the busy town of Vernworth.
It’s best to go into one of the long side streets or just the main square. Walk straight as far as you can and then quickly turn around. Sprint back the way you came, careful not to let anyone run away from you.
By sprinting you can catch up with Bermudo fairly easily. You might even be able to corner him, but he won’t interact with you and will just run away. You have to “argue” with him grab him as soon as you are near.

Once you grab him, just hold him for a few seconds and then start a conversation. At this point you have to make a decision – either release him or kill him.
You can try to question him, but he’s pretty taciturn. Before you let him go, you can extort some money from him, but you won’t get anything except gold. If you ask for anything else, he will attack you.
