Today Nintendo released The financial data for the nine month period ended December 31, 2019. The company again posted some really amazing numbers.
Net sales rose 37.3 percent year over year, while operating profit rose a staggering 98.2 percent, doubling last year’s earnings to nearly $ 5 billion.
During the same period, Nintendo sold 24.1 million hardware units, an increase of 35.8 percent over the previous year. Of that, the Nintendo Switch accounted for 16.77 million and the Switch Lite 7.33 million. In addition, Nintendo sold 176.1 million software units during this period, an increase of 43 percent over the previous year.
The Nintendo Switch has now reached 79.87 million lifetime sales, surpassing the 75.94 million units on the Nintendo 3DS.
In the nine month period ending December 31st are the top-selling games Animal Crossing: New Horizons at 19.41 million units, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at 8.64 million units, Super Mario 3D All-Stars at 8.32 million units and Ring Fit Adventure at 5.95 million units. In total, Nintendo had 29 million games sold – twenty of them are Nintendo titles!

Digital sales also rose an impressive 104.9 percent – which makes sense for everyone at home given the pandemic.
Last August, Kotaku reported that Nintendo’s profits were up 400 percent. The fiscal year ends on March 31st. Look forward to more impressive numbers from Mario and friends.
