Picking a favorite character is almost impossible Abbott Elementary School‘s eclectic and colorful cast. Set in a Philadelphia elementary school, the sitcom follows a motley crew of teachers who do their damn best to help their students despite tight budgets and a school district that couldn’t care less about succeeding. These teachers are incredibly specific and wacky—yet they all feel like they could be ripped out of our own memories of the school day.
If you would have To pick a favourite, it would likely reflect your favorite teacher at school – and that would say a lot about how you approached your own school days. Behold, a highly accurate and scientifically verified personality assessment that reveals secrets of your past and perhaps clues to your future… based on which Abbott elementary school teacher you like best.
Janine Teagues
Janine, played by series creator Quinta Brunson, is a young daredevil with high hopes and dreams for her journey as a teacher. If Janine is your favorite, then you were 100% a teacher favorite. It’s not that you did well in school, but you got on well with your favorite teachers. You were the kid who came to class early and remembered things from your teachers’ personal lives. You ate lunch with them and spent the breaks bothering them. You did all the extra credits tasks and raised your hand even if you didn’t Yes, really know the answer. You strived to get good grades less because you enjoyed learning and more because you wanted positive feedback from the adults in your life. Because of this, you also had trouble connecting with your peers and didn’t have many friends. But that’s okay because you have to have lunch in the staff room! That’s cool, isn’t it? Please say that’s cool.
Melissa Schmenti
Melissa, played by Lisa Ann Walter, is a no-nonsense second grade teacher from South Philly who can get anything she wants by calling someone she knows who owes her a favor.
Your favorite teacher absolutely made fun of you. But you were totally fine with that because you kind of felt it coming. Maybe it was because you were the only one who took care of school, or maybe you were extra serious and a do-gooder, or maybe you were going through an emo phase and wore crappy clip-on hair extensions. The teasing was never mean because you were caught up in the joke, and secretly you were just really touched that someone noticed you. As someone who spent many days at school being overlooked by your classmates, it made you feel special when a teacher noticed you — even if it was in a slightly teasing way. You had a hard time connecting with others, but once you finally found your squad, you really shone.
Or, if that’s the case not even apply to you, you should see Jacob’s entry instead.
Barbara Howard
Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) is a legend at Abbott Elementary: a respected teacher with years of wisdom. So if she’s your favorite, you might have sat in front of the class and kept color-coded binders. But your role in a group project was to make sure nobody messed up. You were annoyed by people who couldn’t follow simple instructions. They believed that the classroom rules were there for a reason and that people who didn’t follow them were just being rude. You have good grades and read all assignments on time. You had a lot of respect for your teachers, but at the same time, many of the other students respected you – if you didn’t tell the teacher that you shared the homework answers. The thought of using SparkNotes absolutely disgusts you. Unlike the Janine people out there, you didn’t actually volunteer or raise your hand first; You didn’t have to prove you were the smartest in the room because you knew it.
Ava Coleman
The Abbott Elementary principal, played by Janelle James, would rather focus on her social media accounts than run the school. So, if Ava is your favorite, you probably didn’t do well at the whole school thing, but you really shone when it came to extracurricular activities. You weren’t a class clown, but you got into a lot of trouble for talking and asking questions that weren’t really related to the material. You liked pushing the boundaries of what you could get away with in class. That was either a hit or miss with your teachers – but boy, when it was a hit, it was a hit and they treated you like the special star that you are. You may have been on your first name with some teachers, while others always texted you no matter what you did. Hey, taste is not for everyone! You dreamed of bigger things than grades and schoolwork. If you found an extracurricular activity that you clicked with, you got into it, but if not, you’ve been jumping around and just having fun meeting new people. You may have been involved in student government and probably ran up against someone who took it far too seriously, but because you had a good time here you dominated the polls.
Gregory Eddie
Gregory (Tyler James Williams) is the newest teacher at Abbott Elementary to be called in as a substitute, and he’s really just using this job as a starting point to one day becoming the principal. You came to school because you had to, not because you wanted to. That doesn’t mean you did badly in school; you did well, thank you very much. But at school you didn’t bother to do anything else besides school. Sure, you participated in the activities you needed to make your college resume look good, but you didn’t spend an extra moment doing something you didn’t need to do. But despite the fact that you actively sought to do so not do everything extra, your classmates loved you and your teachers thought you were awesome. You’re not sure how that happened, but maybe you were asked to speak at the graduation ceremony or you were elected to the homecoming court. Everyone liked you and you’re not quite sure how or why.
Jacob Hill
Sweet, sweet Jacob (Chris Perfetti) is another young teacher who was hired alongside Janine, and with his very serious and sometimes (often?) shy personality, he causes many jokes.
she absolutely made fun of your favorite teacher. You got cocky and chose a teacher who was an easy target. You decided early on that to show dominance among your classmates, you had to be the loudest, most obnoxious kid in the room — and yes, that meant making fun of teachers. But none of this was out of malice; nope, your favorite teachers ripped you right back and you had a nice back-and-forth banter. They even wrote your letters of recommendation for you. With little effort, you’ve kept decent grades and skyrocketed your popularity. You weren’t really anyone best friend, but everyone liked you and knew your name.
Or, if that’s the case not even apply to you, you should see Melissa’s post instead.
Mr Johnson
The eccentric school administrator (William Stanford Davis) knows his way around electrical circuits but would rather go fishing with his buddies. As a student, you were better with your hands than your mind and didn’t like it when they stopped having classes where you had to build something. You and exams didn’t work out very well, but you were actually very smart and perceptive, charged with life’s wisdom from a young age. You haven’t committed to the traditional approach your teachers touched on in school, but today… you’re free from conformity and doing what you want, when you want, how you want. Still, you prefer fishing.
