viper is a melee DPS job in Final Fantasy 14introduced together with the Morning trail Expansion. Vipers use dual blades attached to the center to inflict damage.
Vipers are a reconnaissance class that shares their equipment with ninjas and hack and slash. They primarily use three-step combos and finish their combos with different skills.

Where can you unlock Viper in FFXIV?
Viper is unlocked through a quest in Ul’dah. Before you go there, make sure you meet the following requirements:
- You have a combat job at level 80 or higher.
- You have the Morning trail Extension.
Once you meet these two requirements, go to Ul’dah, Steps of Nald and talk to the Concerned Weaver NPC at the location below to accept the quest “Enter the Viper”.

After completing this quest, you can equip your Job Stone and Viper Blades to play the new melee DPS job.
While the quest will give you some fairly decent gear, if you want to be properly equipped for your new journey, consider getting Augmented Cryptlurker gear from Aymark in Eulmore or Mowen’s Merchant in the Crystarium in exchange for Allagan Tomestones of Poetics. Vipers use scouting gear (the same gear as ninjas).
