Miraculous Tails (often abbreviated as WT) is one of the most important weekly newspapers in Final Fantasy 14that rewards you for completing tasks and helps you unlock new content. It’s like bingo and you get more rewards if you have more rows in a row.
Below you will learn how Wondrous Tails works in FFXIVhow to unlock Wondrous Tails, what rewards you can get, and how to get three lines.
Wondrous Tails in FFXIV explained
Every week, Khloe Aliapoh, a young Miqo’te from Idyllshire, gives you a book to fill in. In exchange for stories of your triumph, she will give you sticker. Arrange four stickers in a row on the 4×4 grid and you will receive a special prize. You can get nine stickers in total, so the more rows you get, the bigger prizes you will get.
The book “Wondrous Tails” is a Key elementand you can use the item to open the book. You can earn stickers by completing the tasks shown on the left side of the book. The stickers you have can be seen on the right side.
For every task you complete, Khloe gives you a Sticker at a random location on the grille. Ideally, you want at least one line before the book expires during the weekly reset (top left tells you when the book goes bad) to get some good rewards.
If you are in a group with someone who deletes content for the first time, you will receive a “Second chance”, as shown below the task grid. For example, you’ll get a second chance if you queue up for Trials Roulette and a new player completes “The Striking Tree” for the first time, even if it’s not on your list of Wondrous Tails tasks for that week.
You can use Second Chances to “repeat”, which marks a completed task as completed (so you can get another sticker for completing the same task) and transfers the completed task to another task. You can also use two Second Chances to “Mix”, Reroll where your stickers are on your gridThis is especially important if you are aiming for a specific number of lines.
Once you have nine stickers in your book, return it to Khloe to receive your rewards. If your book expires before you do this (even if it’s complete), you won’t be able to claim any rewards.
How to unlock Wondrous Tails in FFXIV
To unlock Wondrous Tails, you must complete the level 60 quest “Keeping up with the Aliapohs” (lol). You can pick up this quest at “Anointed Adventurer” NPC in Idyllshire.
The NPC has the blue quest marker with the plus sign above his head, so you should be able to find him on your map.
Wondrous Tails Rewards
Khloe offers the same rewards for lines, but the type of Tomestones rewarded varies depending on the patch. There are some exceptions, as some rewards in Poetics change when a new patch comes out that changes Tomestones. You also only get certain Tomestones if you have at least one job at the highest level. You must choose one of the following rewards depending on how many lines you have received:
- 9 Seals: 500 Allagan Tombstones of Poetry, an Allagan Platinum Piece, or a Treasure Map from the current expansion
- 1 line: 1 MGP Gold Card (worth 30,000 MGP, the Gold Saucer currency), 1 Khloe’s Bronze Certificate of Commendation or 300 high-quality books
- 2 lines: 2 MGP Gold Cards, 1 Khloe’s Silver Certificate of Honor or 1,000 books of lesser value
- 3 lines: 20 MGP Gold Cards, 3 Khloe’s Silver Referral Certificates or 1 Khloe’s Gold Referral Certificate
If your book with nine seals is complete, you will also receive 50% of the EXP of a level for the job where you hand in the book
Each of Khloe’s certificates has its own item exchange when you speak to Khloe. The rewards for each type are as follows:
- Bronze certificates: Clusters for Materia, Minions and Magic Prisms
- Silver certificates: Glamour accessories, older decorated armor, clusters for materia, minions and a framer kit
- Gold certificates: Sabotender de la Luna Whistle, Magical Crib, Miraculous Lanner Whistle, Troll Horn, Calydontis Horn, Incitatus Whistle, Materia Cluster and Ornate Armor
Remember that you can buy almost anything Khloe sells you on the marketplace, but at a high price. (The mounts you get from the gold certificates can be sold for almost 10 million Gil, depending on your server!)
Some of the rewards, such as the servants you get for Bronze Certificates, can be obtained from your Grand Company via Materiel Containers. Some of the other rewards, such as the Gold Certificate mounts and the Silver Certificate glamour items, can also be obtained in exchange for Faux Leaves (which you get for running Artificial cavities).
Gold certificates can also be exchanged for crafted “decorated” armor, which is the best armor for raiders at the beginning of the raid cycle and can be sold for a lot of Gil during that time. Silver certificates can be exchanged for the decorated armor from the previous cycle, so we do not recommend buying these.
How to get three lines in Wondrous Tails
If you’re after the big top prize, there are few variations to getting three lines. Your lines must be aligned as follows, although they can also be a rotation or mirror image of these patterns:
That said, you should keep shuffling your stickers until you have that shape. Once you have your seven stickers arranged in one of those orientations, all you have to do is choose a god and pray that your remaining two seals land where they’re supposed to.
To get the most out of your duties, second amendments and stickers, here’s what you should do:
- Complete as many tasks as possible until you have seven stickers. You can run these tasks unsynchronized to quickly complete old extreme tests and raids.
- Try to Save second chances for shuffles instead of retries.
- Quickly collect more Second Chances by using regular Raid or Trials roulettes. You can also search the Party Finder for people looking for unsynced first completions of Raids or Trials.
The rest is pure luck. There are tons of players who have been doing Wondrous Tails for years and haven’t gotten three lines, so don’t be discouraged. You can still shell out 10 million Gil for that elusive mount (or earn Faux Hollows, as mentioned above).
