Wuthering Waves players face numerous problems, but still love it

Wuthering Waves is ready to eat Genshin Influence‘s lunch if it can only overcome its login issues, performance problems and overheating complaints. The free open-world action RPG hit over 30 million pre-registered playersis now making a desperate effort to resolve all the annoyances these players are facing.

“We have been closely monitoring feedback from players around the world regarding any gameplay issues that may have occurred,” said manufacturer Kuro Games. wrote today on his website“We are committed to continuously addressing these issues through hotfixes.”

Wuthering Waves is an anime gacha game where players try to unlock rare and powerful new characters. It is set in a post-apocalyptic future where young warriors try to rebuild civilization while killing evil monsters. The initial consensus is that it is very similar to Genshin Influence, but with a darker tone and more emphasis on deeper combat. All of the current issues aside, it’s a fun game.

It’s currently benefiting from being the fresh new thing, although some players are already talking about the May 23 launch on PC and mobile being more of a second beta than a true 1.0 release. “I think anyone who’s read through this subreddit can confirm that this game was NOT ready for release today,” wrote one player in the currently most upvoted thread in the subreddit. “So many visual bugs, EN dubbing sucks, and there are other issues you can see in this sub.”

A List of problems from day one On the Kuro Games website, the challenges are summarized as follows: “Lags, freezes, frame rate drops, device overheating, blurry graphics, crashes or force quits.” In addition, there are crashes of the Unreal Engine 4 and problems with age authentication on mobile devices. An overview of the errors on VG247 features many blocked T-poses and graphical glitches that ruin the appearance of the characters.

Players have also complained about the game itself. One persistent problem is the quality of the localization. As PC Gamer ReportsSubtitles sometimes go off the edge of the screen, while certain dubbed voices sound really off. “Currently, our team is committed to continuously fixing and optimizing the localized texts to provide a pleasant experience for Rovers everywhere,” Kuro Games wrote in response to the feedback. “Fixes for some of the known issues with the current localized texts will be included in the patches that will be released soon.”

The company is currently planning a number of other fixes, including improving the visual effects in combat to better convey what is going on and making it easy to play with a controller. Perhaps most importantly for an RPG grindfest like Wuthering WavesKuro is working on a way to further skip the game’s extremely dense exposition and long story moments.

“We’ve received your feedback on the Skip feature, including ‘not enough skippable scenes,’ ‘Skip button UI design not readable enough,’ and ‘the main storyline feels drawn out,'” the company wrote. “We plan to optimize your experience by introducing support for skipping all types of scenes in storylines and reviewing features for story scripts and cutscenes.”

Current players will receive a Voucher of Reciprocal Tides for the chance to get a 5-star character, as well as 10 Lustrous Tides for additional character traits to make up for all the issues of launch week. And despite all the issues, many are still having a lot of fun, between deciding on their favorite characters and discovering how cool the fight can look. Danger Geninshin Influencethe mirror game may just be beginning.
