Microsoft is in the process of adding two new color schemes for the new Xbox Wireless Controller to its controller suite. The company announced Thursday: Electric Volt and Daystrike Camo.
The Electric Volt Controller will be the first of the two colors to hit the market. Starting April 27, players can purchase the bright yellow and green controller for $ 64.99. It features the Xbox Wireless Controller’s new release button and hybrid D-pad. Next to the triggers, bumpers, and the back of the controller is a textured handle.
The Daystrike camo controller won’t arrive until May 4th, and fans will cost $ 69.99 – the same price as the company’s other camo-colored controllers. The Daystrike Camo gamepad offers the same functionality as other Xbox wireless controllers. However, it also features a textured grip over the top of the bumper buttons – for the first time ever, according to Microsoft. The camo print is gray, black and two different shades of red.
Another innovation – for both gamepads – is that “part” of the controller will be made from recycled post-consumer resins. These are essentially recycled materials that were previously used in plastic items such as water jugs or CDs. Microsoft assured Xbox fans in the announcement article
As always, these two new controllers work with Bluetooth devices, Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Microsoft has also updated its gear store with Xbox Merch, which has similar color schemes to the new controllers.
Are these two controller schemes ugly? We can’t say that. Microsoft’s ever-expanding range of controller colors – charming and less charming – is a far cry from Sony’s monotonous approach to the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller, however. Keep your head high, extremely pale yellow-green controller: at least you’re something new .
