On Monday, Microsoft unveiled a whole host of new details on the next-generation, Xbox Series X – specs, technical demos, and information on the new wireless controller.
The console is expected to be released in the 2020 holiday and, through it, players will receive a new controller, which is said to be upgraded to the Xbox One controller in "smart and revolutionary ways." Microsoft explain the details of the controller
Whitaker said the Xbox team created a new controller mentally:
The new controller should fit the size of the hands – "especially small hands," Whitaker said. Bumpers were cut, calls were reduced, and they were plugged in for better access. The new D-pad, too, was designed with the aim of enhancing "functionality and accessibility," according to the designer.
"When you look at the many types of gaming and gaming systems of people today, the D-pad is used in many different ways," said Whitaker. "A little deep bowl gives your thumb & # 39; little home & # 39; little home to live in. The angles are well adjusted to give you a good amount of foundation with minimal movement."
Similarly, the new controller will work with the Xbox One, too – but also for PC, Android and iOS. The devices will be "memorable" to make the transition within easy reach, Microsoft said. A USB-C port is available for charging and playback.
Microsoft has also shared more information about the new sharing button – announced in December – located below the main & # 39; Xbox button. It will be used to take screenshots and record video without opening the menus. "After that you can easily log in and share content with your social platforms or directly with friends," Whitaker said.
The Xbox Series X – and its controller – is said to be the 2020 holiday release date.
