Before downloading TikTok – which is currently the case the most downloaded app in the world– Headlines tried to scare me about heinous international conspiracies harvest personal data. Adult (anyone at least six years older than me) TSK tskmy generation’s shrunken attention span, and offline advocates assured me my brain is quickly folding into an omelet.
All of these things are probably true. But it’s also true that TikTok is fairly egalitarian and can take you to topics, people, and ways of thinking that you might otherwise never have known about. Unlike Twitter, TikTok is usually untrustworthy. It’s hardly ever edgily polished or over-curated, so it’s not like Instagram either. However, video games go well with TikTok. They aim to be quick and intuitive to please, and the app can be similarly fast, fun, and surprisingly informative. And even if it weren’t, would it be so awful that we just like being entertained with it?
So, yes, I watch game-related TikTok videos. I might give them up for a nature trail anyway a gaping canyon upstate, but at the moment it’s too cold and I don’t have any cereal. I like to swap cornflakes and agave for 100 percent raw sugar: this video app that has a lot to say about PC, strategy, setup and endless other topics relevant to gamers.
There is also a desire in you. It’s okay, you can indulge yourself for a little while. Read on for my overview of TikTok games, loosely organized by category and interest. Tooth decay is inevitable, but getting it can be fun.

Consisting of short-form content, TikTok produces digestible and bite-sized hardware reviews. One of the most popular tech reviewers with four million followers is a teenager @Carterpcswho discusses everything Gaming PC Beginner Tips to recognize what brand of headphones Actress Jenna Ortega takes a selfie.

- @OverKillcomputer, a brand that builds gaming PCs. Videos are posted starting from sweet schlocky (connecting a pc to a terrarium) to purely informative (tools that can help you build a pc).
- @Arsenica tech and car critic who I like because his face reminds me of an emoji (and because he’s good at explaining things)
Game Discussion and Tips
These types of TikToks often include clips from games that help them make their tips more concise, effective, and clear. When it comes to discussions, TikTok mostly shows you what you want to see, people who more or less believe what you believe. But it has so many videos, so there are some outliers, and the occasional unsavory (read: Ben Shapiro) thought pops through. While I don’t agree with them, I like getting the little opportunity to see how someone else approaches a game that I may not have thought about for a long time.

For the ladies (and everyone else)
TikTok has a strong “gamer girl” and gaymer base that talks about decoration, makeup and fashion. Male-dominated gaming spaces tend to forget these things, so I want to highlight these creators for any non-traditional gamers who feel left out. But I think everyone can find something to relate to in a seashell pink day-in-the-life video, even if they didn’t expect it.

What you really came for
TikTok can help with learning and socializing, but it comes alive marginally, in the weird shit, like a modern brownie In the cupboard. TikTok is the master of diversity, and its game content is no exception. Who would I be if it never taught me anything @bimbozillaa queer creator who makes Skyrim figures with apocalyptically large breasts, @notaquesartwho does a convincing one fable characteror This child, who creates VR videos with relatively high production value? It scares me to think about it.
