Eldest Souls is a critically acclaimed soulslike action RPG available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Today we’re releasing the major expansion, Depths of the Forgotten, which adds around 30% more content and more bosses more difficult, all for free. Packed with a bunch of content, you will discover new locations, bosses and weapons in addition to discovering new knowledge about the history of this world.
You are humanity’s only hope, with your great sword of pure obsydian, you are tasked to face the ancient gods, who have unleashed great desolation on the world as their ultimate revenge.
New areas to explore
With the Depths of the Forgotten expansion, it is possible to explore what lies behind the door to the Enchanted Forest. As the name suggests, you’ll descend far below the Citadel to new and unfamiliar areas using a mysterious elevator. These uncharted locations are home to some of the toughest bosses you’ve yet to face. Are you up to the challenge?
The rejected girl
The first of three new bosses is the monstrous result of mixing human and divine genes into a single being. The rejected daughter was Eksyll’s failed hope of a worthy heir. Instead of putting the creature out of its misery, Eksyl decided to keep it locked away, deep in the depths, and the years have not been kind…
Zylad, Lord of Steel
Zylad, Lord of Steel, is the result of his battle-strewn past. Zylad has always been a fierce adversary, but thanks to Eksyll’s upgrades, he quickly gained near-Divine powers. Leading the legions that overran the Citadel, Zylad’s newfound strength led him to act above his station, which ultimately led to his release and imprisonment in the Deep.
The Rotten Crown
The portly King Otto swore he would not perish alongside his ruined kingdom and sacrificed much to a winged savior for the gift of eternal salvation. Unfortunately for Her Majesty, the supposed Savior didn’t feel like parting with his new royal toy and instead locked it away for his own twisted amusement.
Orenai the Watcher
As you travel through the Forgotten Depths, you’ll encounter a mysterious creature guarding the elevator. Meet Orenai the Watcher, a new NPC, and although he’s reluctant to share information, he’ll help you on your journey.
New weapons unlock
As you travel through these areas, you’ll find a selection of all-new unlockable weapons that offer significant buffs and debuffs. For example, “The Executioner” will greatly increase your damage, but it will come at the cost of reduced movement and defense. Choose wisely and unlock all four.
The Empire’s Wrath
Finally, there’s a new shard that gives your already powerful arsenal even more options to take on the various bosses. We won’t spoil what you need to do to get it, but we can guarantee that it’s something you’ll want if you intend to succeed.
The positive reaction and community support for Eldest Souls, our first game, has been overwhelming. As a small team of friends who dropped out of college to pursue their dream, that meant a lot to us. All of this new content is our way of saying a big “thank you” to everyone who played it. We hope all new and old Eldest Souls fans enjoy!
