HBO and the adaptation of ‘The Last of Us’ has selected the actress who will play the small, but important role of the daughter of Joel, the character of Pedro Pascal.
Sources announced that it will be Nico Parker, best known for her leading role in Disney’s ‘Dumbo’, who will be in charge of giving life to the crucial character of Joel’s daughter, the leader of the plot that we are about to see on the screens, Sarah.
Sarah is a 12-year-old girl, who lived with her dad in Austin, Texas, before the mushroom outbreak took over humanity and society fell apart. After the chaos, I had to flee with her father to find safety, not to mention that a soldier would shoot her to kill her. After 20 years of his death, Joel is still haunted by guilt.
Parker is also part of the HBO team, since he had a role in the miniseries of ‘The Third Day’, and now, he joins the cast of the awaited adaptation of the popular video game. The cast includes Bella Ramsey and Gabriel Luna.
Craig Mazin, best known for his hit ‘Chernobyl’, is behind the project along with the video game’s creator, Neil Druckmann. While this is not the first attempt to adapt ‘The Last of Us’, we believe that, if there is a team capable of taking it out of the park, that is HBO. In addition, we believe that this adaptation will be strong competition for others such as Disney Plus, with ‘The Mandalorian’, and Netflix, with ‘The Witcher’.
HBO decided to turn the Sony and Screen Gems project into a series, as this pair wanted to make a film that was not quite in line with Druckmann’s expectations. Fortunately, the serial format seems to be hitting the spot, which is why it is in the development stage.
Regarding the filming phase, and release date, details for the date are unknown, but we are sure that 2021 will not end without some latest news from HBO, especially since this is an excessively ambitious project, and that the fans are looking forward to it.
