When Apex Legends was first released, Pathfinder’s presence was much more intense than it is today. However, fans of the jolly zip-line laying robot should be excited to hear that Pathfinder will once again receive some love from Respawn, as lore will come about the Apex Legends character through the upcoming ‘Tales of the Legends’ video. Distant lands”.
While the Apex Legends team has been focusing on more knowledge about Lifeline and Mirage lately, one legend that developers haven’t consistently explored until now has been Pathfinder. Aside from being a walkthrough guide with some unique exploration skills, Pathfinder has no idea where it came from or why it was created. That may change soon though, as a Pathfinder-led “Stories from the Outlands” lore release is underway.
The news came through an Apex Legends web page that was accidentally posted early, confirming that the short will premiere on Tuesday, December 29. The publication also gave the short the title of “Fight Night”, with the description saying that “not everyone does it twelve rounds”. While the story shared in the video will likely not be as massive as the reveal of Revenant’s ties to Loba, it would still be interesting to watch Pathfinder’s world travels. With the image in the post showing the robot in a safari hat, it can be safely assumed that fans will see the character’s globetrotting adventures.

Aside from a much-needed Pathfinder backstory via the special animated short, it looks like an in-game event will also focus on the Legend. Players have already found numerous previews on the Olympus map for the game’s Fight Night event, which will likely resemble the Town Takeovers seen previously in Apex Legends. With the map taking on a Pathfinder-themed redesign, everyone should get the message that Respawn is exploring the jolly robot.
The post has been removed since the news was shared by the @TitanfallBlog Twitter account, as a Respawn developer tweeted “oops” after seeing that the web page was posted earlier. Community Director Ryan K. Rigney spoke on behalf of Respawn when he shared that the team will remove the blog post “until we are ready for show time.” Although that showtime is supposedly a few days away, it makes sense that the exciting post will be cut until then.

While some players consider Pathfinder one of the worst legends in terms of gameplay, the character’s lore seems to be improving. With Pathfinder also set to get a standalone book exploring its creator’s quest in February, hopefully Respawn will put the same effort into tweaking its kit to make the beloved bot more viable in the game.
Apex Legends is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S, with mobile and Switch versions in development.
