Apex Legends’ Fight Night Collection event features a number of bug fixes for Legends, but one applied to Mirage seems more like an improvement.
Apex Legends is in the middle of Season 7, and the Holo-Day Bash event is coming to an end. The Holo-Day Bash event featured winter cosmetics, Winter Express LTM, and some festive map changes. Now, another event is already preparing to start on January 5. The Fight Night Collection event will feature a unique Pathfinder Town Takeover, a new LTM, and will feature a boxing match challenge.
The Apex Legends Fight Night collection event will also include some changes to the legends. Most of the changes are bug fixes, including Wraith portal being destroyed by Tridents, Bloodhound UI disappearing after using Horizon’s Grav Lift, and Horizon’s Grav Lift being unable to affect Lifeline’s DOC and drone. Crypto. However, bug fixing a legend seems more like a skill upgrade.
Mirage decoys will now have audible footsteps. Previously, any decoys sent by Mirage did not emit any sound, allowing other players to hear the actual Mirage. However, his abilities have already been greatly improved with the change that allows him to control decoys. Now, with the lures making audible footsteps, it can result in a lot more deception.
Mirage may not be the most dominated legend, but the bug fix could bring it closer to that state. Apex Legends developer Daniel Klein said last month that Mirage will likely never be “top-tier” because its abilities would become confusing and unfair to less skilled players. The comment received substantial backlash from fans, but the new bug fix may be a change that pushes Mirage up the tier list.
While most of the major buffs and nerfs occur at the beginning of the season or midway through, the Fight Night Collection event will grant major perks to two Legends who are considered underpowered. Season 6 legend Rampart is receiving an upgrade that will reduce the cooldown of his Amplified Cover ability from 30 seconds to 20 seconds. However, his Amped Cover ability previously had major flaws, as players struggled to place the shield even in open areas.
Caustic is also receiving a major upgrade that will reduce the cooldown of his Gas Trap ability from 25 seconds to 20 seconds. Although the maximum number of traps available remains the same, the cooldown will allow Caustic to store traps at a much faster rate, making it more viable in prolonged firefights. All bug fixes and improvements will be rolled out on January 5 along with exciting new content in the Fight Night Collection event.
Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version also in development.
