Konami announced Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls three years ago and scheduled its release outside of Japan for 2019. The game did indeed arrive in Canada as an exclusive test territory later that year, but soon after Konami canceled support for the game due to “ lack of interest from the players ”.
Players who were upset with such a decision can be happy now since the title will return
Metroidvania on mobile
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls was a side scrolling action game, it obviously had elements of a Metroidvania but it lacked the exploration of giant maps as the game was organized by levels. In addition, we could choose several characters and buy weapons with real money to adapt to the mobile world, of course.
The characters present were Simon Belmont, Maria Renard, Charlotte Aulin, and Glyph Master Shanoa. Now, according to Apple, more characters, more weapons, levels and weekly challenges will arrive, basically what Konami had planned before canceling it.
It is unknown who is in charge of development but only Konami is mentioned in the App Store. So it seems that both companies reached an agreement to re-launch the title of one of the best-known franchises in the industry.
On the other hand, we still do not have a set date for the premiere of Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls in Apple Arcade, but it is expected soon. It will debut on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
