To this day, it seems impossible that a player does not know the name of Assassin’s Creed. After all, Ubisoft has worked hard on the license to make sure players can experience a bit more of a game’s story that makes it a lot closer. However, the reality is that initially this license wasn’t even going to be a main game.
We’re talking about a time when we still had Prince of Persia with us. This license is fondly remembered by many and it is not surprising to think that in its day the company put all its efforts into bringing this license to life. In fact, we talked about a time when he had just come out Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. And it was here that the company, at the time, thought of reinventing the prince once again.
A derivative idea that ended up being something more
Before the existence of the Animus and even the Abstergo, the company had very different plans for Assassin’s Creed. This gave life to a project called Prince of Persia: Assassins Of which, fortunately, there are still images that allow you to get an idea of what Ubisoft had in mind to give shape and life to this experience.
The idea shows us that Ubisoft came to think of a framework very similar to what ended up being the first Assassin’s Creed title. Not only that, but he would also killer blade carry out the executions or even the possibility of using a horse as a means of transport. From there, being a prototype, we see that the graphics were much more basic, the textures were less detailed, and there weren’t even a lot of elements.
However, there is something interesting that has never been talked about and that is that there was a murderous companion. Not only that, but even the murders would have been committed in the first person. But, while the initial idea of bringing a new installment of Assassin’s Creed to life was hinted at, it was turned down for going for something completely new and that, for many, was the right move.
