The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games continue to provide something to talk about among anime fans and this time it is thanks to the winners of the team pursuit discipline from Italy.
The 5 athletes who received the gold medal for their country for the first time in 61 years, celebrated in the most fun way and according to the theme that the event has handled, replicating the pose of the Ginyu Special Forces.
The villains of ‘Dragon Ball Z’ are now a part of the history of the event, which is documented in a photograph published on the account of Official team Instagram with the phrase:
“Yes, we know they are evil, but the Ginyu Force never fails.”
Team Italy channeled their favorite member to perfection with the same force with which they competed for the top prize against Denmark this year, after the regular winners in Great Britain were disqualified after tripping on the track.
If you still do not know what the team pursuit is about, it is a competition in which 5 athletes pedal their bikes one behind the other overcoming obstacles, which saw the glory this year with Simone Consonni, Filippo Ganna, Jonathan Milan and Francesco Lamon.
Lamon himself gave a short speech to the press after winning, commenting:
“It is a great honor for us. Our group has worked very hard to reach the highest level and, starting in 2016, our coach motivated us a lot. We are very proud of what we have achieved and of our group ”.
Of course, with such a display of power in the group photo, the team has exploded in popularity, prompting fans in Italy to request that they recreate the Ginyu Special Forces cosplay routine upon their return.
