From the beginning, Gran Turismo has always offered an experience that goes beyond just racing. Staying true to being “the real driving simulator”, GT really lets you express your innate love of cars, whether that’s through racing, collecting, tuning, photography or just driving. Whatever your background, everyone who has played GT has their own background and their own stories that often parallel real-life experiences of cars and motoring culture.
As we prepare to race Gran Turismo 7 on PS4 and PS5 this Friday, we thought it would be fun to invite five of the most talented and influential automotive experts from different automotive categories to Race Service in Los Angeles. Angeles, California to see how their love of cars are experienced in GT7.
Sung Kang – Collector
Beyond being a notable actor, Sung Kang’s love for cars began much like the classic GT campaign mode where he bought a relatively cheap Nissan 240Z online and started building it with his friends over the weekend, tuning in and learning as the build progressed. different upgrade steps. Following the completion and debut of the “Fugu Z” at the 2016 SEMA (Speed Equipment Manufacturing Association) show, the custom Z won the coveted Gran Turismo Awards where it was later immortalized in GT Sport. Since then, Sung has continued to evolve the development of the Fugu Z and also launched a collection of various vehicles, including other classic JDM golden age vehicles and American domestic vehicles, making him a true collector.
Toni Breidinger – Runner
A professional NASCAR driver and 19-time US Auto Club champion, he grew up going karting and naturally fell in love with the sport. Toni arrives at Race Service the day before his trip to Florida for a test weekend at Daytona International Speedway for the very first time. With our GT simulators equipped with GT7 and the new Fanatec DD PRO, Toni had the chance to do some practice laps virtually on the Daytona International Superspeedway and Road Course circuit layouts. She also had the chance to do her own virtual comparisons to the reality of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, a local track for being a California native.
Jon Sibal – Designer
Automotive artist and designer Jon Sibal grew up playing Gran Turismo and was inspired by the 90s Nissan GT-R from the game and applied aero-inspired designs to his personal vehicle. His love and passion for design comes to life through GT7, but not just the visuals of the game, but also the future opportunities that are possible with the power of the livery editor and design projects like the Vision Gran Turismo.
13and Witness (Tim Mcgurr) – Photographer
Professional photographer and director, 13and Witness has endless stories of his favorite pass times spent in front of Gran Turismo, including many endless nights fighting his way to completing the 100% GT Campaign mode and insane 24-hour races. GT7 was the first time he experienced photo mode in depth, but very quickly he was able to put his professional photography skills to use in the real world, and the camera controls are directly reflected in GT7.
Adam LZ – Tuner
Car builder and YouTuber Adam LZ knew very little about Gran Turismo’s arrival in Race Service, but one look at his beloved S14 Nissan Z immediately hooked him on GT7 tuning. As a true tuner, Adam started by tweaking his suspension and drivetrain settings, making sure the vehicle would be able to maintain the power boost he had planned next on his list of upgrades. A few laps around Tsukuba Circuit proved that the Racing Soft tires weren’t giving him the spin he wanted for a drift car, Adam began testing his new suspension settings and LSD with various tire options. Adam is all about balance when it comes to tuning, too much of anything is never good.
Gran Turismo 7 is coming to PS5 and PS4 on March 4.
