The legendary puzzle game Tetris extends its life with a new premiere for PlayStation platforms.
Tetris Effect: Connected is an expanded version of the title that was exclusive to the PS4 in 2019, which was presented at the Xbox Series X / S premiere as a special work. Filled with multiplayer elements and new modes, it was considered a hit for the Green X consoles.
But this will change in the month of July, when Connected comes to PS4 natively, with the possibility of having support for PS5 and PSVR, in addition to having cross-play for all available platforms. An unexpected bridge between the two rival companies that released their brand new consoles at the end of 2020.
In the same way, the PC will be included in the event, reaching the Epic Games Store platform, as happened with the original Tetris Effect after its premiere on PS4. This expands the universe of players who will be able to compete or cooperate in the different adventures of this title.
Tetris trivia
An interesting story is that it is unknown who chose the iconic song with which we know the game. This is called Korobeiniki and it is a traditional Russian song in which a street vendor seduces a commoner, in theory it is a love song.
It does not have much to do with Tetris but the truth is that its western distributors (probably Spectrum HoloByte) decided to give the game a “Russian” touch when they launched it in the United States. And they couldn’t think of anything else to play an 8-bit version of Korobeiniki.
On the other hand, in 1993 it became the first game in space when Aleksandr Serebrov brought a Game Boy to an outlet on the Mir space station.
In 2009 a article published in BMC revealed that playing Tetris (among other tasks) strengthened the cerebral cortex in growing ages. and in 2010 the game broke the record for most platforms when it reaches it, it is available in 65 of these. Brand that was surpassed with Tetris Effect: Connected and its playability for PS5 and Xbox Series X / S.
