SEGA announces that Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles will have a Western release, coming to current and previous generation consoles.
Launching a hugely popular first season and following up with a record-breaking film adaptation last year, Demon Slayer has had an incredibly successful years since its inception in 2019. His next big venture will tackle the realm of video games, with Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is scheduled to release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X later this year.
Earlier today, SEGA announced that the adaptation would be released in the West alongside its Japanese debut, and The Hinokami Chronicles will officially debut in North America and Europe on October 15. The reveal was made in conjunction with an action-packed trailer, which tells the story. from the first season of Demon Slayer and offers a first look at their campaign.
As those who have watched the show will already know, the game follows the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a young swordsman who embarks on a quest to avenge his family and heal his sister after demons ravage his home. It seems that most of the anime’s most shocking moments will be playable throughout the main campaign of the Demon Slayer game, including Tanjiro’s showdown against Sabito, his war against Hand Demon during the final Demon Slayer Corp selection, and even his epic confrontation with Rui the spider demon during the Natagumo Mountain Arc. Recent trailers have confirmed that fans will be able to play as other Demon Slayer characters, with the roster including Nezuko, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and more.

Along with the new promotion, SEGA has also detailed three versions of The Hinokami Chronicles that fans will be able to purchase. There is a standard physical and digital copy, as well as a Digital Deluxe Edition, which will come loaded with additional extras. Included are 8,000 “Killer Points”, 3 Butterfly Mansion skins, 12 character avatars for players on PS4, PS5 or Steam, 4 character unlock keys, and a custom PS4 theme. Fans who purchase the standard digital edition will also get some of these bonuses, with that version featuring a character key, 2 character avatars, and the aforementioned PS4 theme.
Players who pre-order any of the three copies will also get some extras, with each edition offering one or two bonus character keys and a variety of other benefits depending on the platform the player chooses. These range from character avatars to the ability to play two days early, which is exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition. All in all, there seems to be a lot to attract a fan of the Demon Slayer franchise, especially with many of the bonuses offering ways to customize your PS4, PS5, or Steam profiles. While players await the game, they can watch the Demon Slayer film adaptation Mugen Train, which recently surpassed Spirited Away to become the highest-grossing film ever in Japan.
