Codemasters reveals a new update for Dirt 5 that includes a multitude of unique cars, events, and modes for players to explore.
Dirt 5 is getting a new expansion along with a free content update. Developer Codemasters released a blog post revealing details for an upcoming patch for its flagship racing title, Dirt 5.
The off-road racing title sees players go head-to-head on various terrains. Along with rallycross and off-road buggies, Codemasters includes a host of locations from Italy to racing games in China. A big part of the game is the available vehicles, and it seems like the content update is adding multiple new machines to enjoy.
Of the many cars in Dirt 5, all four new vehicles come as part of the Energy Content Pack. Two of them are pickup trucks, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the GMC Sierra Pre-Runner. According to the post, both vehicles come with incredible power and can handle the most extreme conditions. On the sportier side, fans can look forward to the Alpine A110 Sports X and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. The Porsche represents a shift to electric, but both cars are perfect for handling the various routes.

Fortunately, these four vehicles can be played in any mode on next-gen consoles, including Carrera. In addition to the 25 events coming to the game, Codemasters will also release a free content update for all players. The Junkyard Playground update is added in a unique mode where fans can create and share custom racing arenas. There are 20 elements for designing courses, and creators can upload their areas for others to find. The free update and the Energy Content Pack will arrive in the game on February 22.
As one of the best launch titles for Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5, Dirt 5 has been around for a few months. However, it appears that the team behind the off-road racing experience is still focusing on bringing exciting content to the game. With four new cars to drive and additional events, hardcore gamers will have good reason to re-enter. Also, the Junkyard Playground update should provide a great deal of replayability due to its creative nature.
The only real downside is that the four cars in the Energy Content Pack are not free for all players. Only for those who own the Amplified Edition and players who purchased the Year One update. Otherwise, the new vehicles will need to be purchased separately for access. This stipulation also includes the 25 special events, so fans looking for more in-game activities will need to shell out a little extra money. All of that aside, it looks like Dirt 5 will have a lot more to do when the update comes out.
Dirt 5 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / S.
