Hi all! Happy New Year and welcome to 2048… Uh, sorry, I mean 2021! I’m very happy to be here to give you a very special update on our next stealth cyberpunk RPG disjoint: a release date.
I’m excited to say that Disjunction will be released for PlayStation 4 on January 28 and will be fully playable on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility. We also have a brand new gameplay trailer to give you a taste of what to expect:
If you didn’t already know, Disjunction takes place in the dystopian underworld of 2048 New York City that tells the interconnected story of three playable characters. The game was developed by myself and my two brothers here at Ape Tribe Games. We’re all big fans of games like Deus Ex and classic sci-fi movies, and we wanted to make a game with deep RPG systems, cybernetic abilities, lots of player choices, and stealth action gameplay to adrenaline.
There is so much to tell you, so I will try to distill the essence of Disjunction into five key points. Let’s start.
It takes place in a cyberpunk in New York
The disjunction takes place in 2048, in a New York city plunging into the future, yet plagued by social unrest. Megastructures are skyrocketing, cybernetic implants are rife, and security robots are patrolling the perimeters of powerful corporations. On the other hand, crime skyrocketed, climate change forced the construction of a huge flood wall around the city, and Central Park was converted into a self-sustaining slum. The technological advancements of the future are huge, but they are not distributed evenly across society.
There are three main characters
Disjunction follows the stories of three characters – Frank, Joe, and Spider – as they work together to unravel a city-wide plot. Each character has a unique personality, story, and set of abilities to overcome the challenges they face. The stories of these three characters are interwoven with each other, and you will learn more about their personal histories as the game progresses.
Your playstyle depends on you
Disjunction gives you the freedom and flexibility to choose your own playstyle. You can face off in deadly, high-octane battles, or use your wits to stay in the shadows, using fighting techniques. distraction and non-fatal attacks to achieve your goal. How best to navigate New York’s treacherous underworld is up to you.
Your choices matter
Disjunction offers a reactive story shaped by your actions. Your approach to situations can have serious consequences for New York’s future, with the repercussions of choosing to spare or kill even one person who spreads through the underworld. Depending on your playstyle and dialogue choices, the story you are going through will react and change, culminating in a wide range of possible endings.
There is a deep progression of the character
In Disjunction, you’ll be able to unlock cybernetic upgrades to increase your abilities via upgrade trees, and leverage your playstyle to improve your stealth or increase lethality on attacks through talent trees. Find all of the hidden upgrade kits and spend your hard earned talent points wisely to maximize the effectiveness of each character.
