DIY Perks Build PCs With Magnetic Heatsinks

YouTuber DIY Perks has uploaded to his channel a video that would make the most talented engineers at Intel or AMD proud. Today’s build is a five foot cabinet that cools the components through air, but through fans like a common PC.

Instead this build uses several acrylic panels moving from left to right in an enclosed space. The air that these panels create due to their movement rises through special ducts that cool a very powerful PC. The best of the matter is that, according to the tests of DIY Perks, the temperatures are better than many normal fans.

Crazy invention

The Ryzen 5950X hit 60 ° C in Prime95 (some hit 80 ° C), while the Zotac RTX 3080 hit 60 ° C in FurMark.

The build process is one of the most complicated we have seen and it is also not practical (the whole build takes up a lot of space). However, it is very aesthetic in its own way and its very existence is incredible since all the energy used is taking advantage of magnets and water pumps.

In the video we can see that, despite the good idea, there were many problems that limited the build. However, the YouTuber came up with ways to prevent noise or components from being damaged by how unorthodox the entire construction was.

It is worth noting that, even with everything that went well, there is a lot of room to improve the build. To begin with, it ended up being larger than necessary and it cools very well, so it would fit another PC perfectly. In addition, you can improve aesthetics and decorate yourself in more ingenious ways.

But the truth is that, as we said, it is impractical and very expensive. DIY Perks even soaked one of the magnets in vinegar to reduce its size by 0.4mm to prevent it from getting stuck. It is very hard work to get very good temperatures, but neither incredible nor really necessary.

You can see the construction process and the final result below.
