Dawn's season is almost here, and everyone in Bungie is excited to share this next chapter of Destiny's ongoing story with the world. I have been fortunate to work with tons of passionate and talented people – a few of whom you saw in our announcement of Season Live broadcast this week who share a bunch of amazing information (and this trailer-full). Today, I'm here to share a few new looks of what you can expect to see this season.
Our story takes on the end of last Season. Tomorrow, we will join the guardians of the globe as we travel in time to rescue the famous hero, Saint-14.
The Season of Dawn story is told of new demands, accommodation, and encounters with the six players we call Sundial. In that encounter, the Cabal tried to change the events of the Red War by rewriting history. We'll add a cracked timeline and drop it off before they succeed.
The new season of Dawn Artifact is ready to be sponsored. As you rate your Artifact throughout the Season, you will unlock new mods that you can enter to get into new arms and weapons to perform as you please.
At Bungie, when we talk about the game we want Destiny 2 to be in, we have discussions to explore the changing world of the Season. We want to have a line connecting each of us to a unique time in the hope of slowing down the Cabal. It also provides a way of new arrival on the horizon.
The origin of Sundial's thought was: "What would Osiris do with Vex's vast technical knowledge?" "How could she have retaliated?" It takes that knowledge from Vex, melts technology down, and restores to build a machine that can be time-consuming. One is building in many stages, but now it is. The materials we used included a wide range of materials including astrolabes, typewriters, ancient cartography, compasses, and scissors.
Restoring Saint has been something we've always wanted to do. And fortunately, as we were able to play with the time, we had the unique opportunity to give you bacon in advance before it became a subject we all know.
Strong countries have been popular with the party for some time. This map was our PVP test bed and it was there that we honored the PVP as a whole inside the station. It was fun to give back to Destiny's new and old players.
The photo shows the players being pulled in time inside the Sundial. Ironically we wanted to take the pieces of The Sundial itself and stretch, tear it, and measure it across the information to show the multiplicity of its existence across the space between reality.
From the beginning, we explored themes, conflicts, and situations that could connect the Seasons. This early work guided many of our design decisions and I am always excited to have the opportunity to share some of the iconic elements that end up in the game.
Thanks for stopping by and watching the beginning of Dawn Season. See you at the Tower tomorrow.
