Epic Games knows very well that ‘Fortnite’ is a gold mine that does not seem to be close to being over. The game continues to add new users every day and its constant updates are one of the elements that most help it to stay at the top of the popularity indexes.
Now we know thanks to Epic Games that Fortnite raised in 2018 the figure of 5.400 million dollars and in 2019 it earned about 3.700 million. These figures were extracted from the court documents of the dispute between Epic Games and Apple.
This means that Epic Games has pocketed more than 9,000 million dollars in just two years thanks to Fortnite. Regarding the profits obtained in the year 2020, Epic Games estimated to earn 2.700 million dollars with Fortnite, but their estimates fell very short and the game managed to generate about 5.100 million dollars in the first year of the pandemic.
Fortnite to the rescue of Epic Games
A very interesting fact extracted from these documents is that other Epic Games games such as Psyonix, Battle Breakers and Spyjinx generated 108 million dollars in 2018 and 2019, so Epic Games’ cover letter continues to be Fortnite.
The Epic Games Store generated about 235 million dollars in profits these two years and many of them were obtained in 2019. Epic Games invested about 444 million dollars in 2020 to be able to make the store much more attractive for developers and users.
The truth is that these more than 9,000 million dollars raised with Fortnite in two years are not surprising if we consider that it is the most successful battle royale in the entire industry. Fortnite allows Epic Games to finance other projects such as games or even the Epic Games Store with its earnings.
Another detail that helps Fortnite be so lucrative is that the game is available on multiple platforms at the same time.
