That’s right, Fall Guys is going free-for-all and cross-play starting June 21, with a new PS5 version that improves the stumbling action.
But before we dive deeper into what’s new, let’s take a look back at where we started… Can you believe we launched Fall Guys in August 2020? A lot has happened in those two years, including some amazing collaborations and huge, game-changing updates. I think the Squads mode has been the biggest improvement to the game so far – it was just a completely new way to play with a group without having to constantly give up because someone from the development team has again been eliminated in the first round (not going to name names here). It’s so nice to share the joy of a victory with all your friends watching!
Hitting the first anniversary of the launch of Fall Guys was a truly special moment. To have someone care about our silly obstacle course bean game in the first place was an incredible honor, but to have a dedicated and passionate community celebrating a year of achievement in Fall Guys is something else entirely. Development is never easy sailing, but I’m incredibly proud of how the team has supported and improved the game since launch.

Well, what’s up?
How much time do you have? We have so many new features, obstacles, rounds and more are added to Fall Guys in this new season.
My favorite new addition to the game is definitely Blast Balls! As the design team, we were looking for new ways to make final rounds that give players more agency to compete against each other and make smart strategic plays. Blast Balls achieve this while staying true to the heart of Fall Guys – they’re funny, grounded in physics, and perfect for creating newsworthy clips.
We’ve also added some amazing new rounds, including Hex-a-Ring. It’s basically a version of Hex-a-Gone that’s played on a spinning tube, you have to keep moving through layers of tiles without falling off the spinning floor and don’t fall in the mud! I’d be lying if I said a lot of our team members were good this round, but I’m looking forward to seeing the community highlights when they get to try it out.
With some absolutely crazy collabs planned, we can’t wait for everyone to dig in and try it out for themselves! For more information and teasers on upcoming collaborations, keep an eye on our social media.
I couldn’t talk about ALL the new features of the upcoming season, but I’m very excited to share with you some of the awesome technical features of the upcoming PS5.
Now let’s see the technical details
We’re really excited to bring awesome features to Fall Guys for PS5 players.
First of all, we’re really happy to say that we’ll be using improved physics and native 4K asset management, which means… Fall Guys will hit 60FPS at 4k on PS5 starting June 21st. imagine every colorful costume stumbling in 4k resolution – so beantacular!
Our Tonicteam tried some fun stuff with the DualSense wireless controller haptics to add to the game later. Dan Parkes (one of our sound engineers) added this nice feature where the controller starts to vibrate as you get closer to the crown. It’s subtle but really adds to the tension as you reach the final meters of Fall Mountain and Lost Temple.
We’ve also been working on Direct Access for Fall Guys on PS5, which essentially links certain parts of the Fall Guys menu to Quick Tasks. This means that you will be able to directly access the main Show, Duos, Trios and Squad modes from the launch menu. But do not worry. You won’t start dropping in a match until you confirm that you want to get into matchmaking.
Rewards galore
As a thank you to all of our amazing Fall Guys players, anyone who downloaded and played Fall Guys before June 21 will be eligible for Iconic Rewards. We don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but a little Pegwin told me it included some Veggie Dog and Fiery dwarf costume…

It’s been a wild ride, but I’m so excited to see so many new players stepping into the Blunderdome for the launch of Fall Guys: Free for All on June 21st.
