Players have until Sunday, September 25 to complete the demo, with survivors earning a special “Crouching Dragon Helmet” that can be equipped and used in the main game upon release.
But before you jump into battle, I’m here to break down my top five tips and tricks to help you wear that nice headset when the game launches in early 2023.
1. character creation
Before embarking on the supernatural world of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, you will need to create a character that is up to the challenge. One option in particular you’ll want to pay attention to is called “Phase”. Phase is based on the five elements (fire, water, earth, wood, and metal), and depending on which phase you select, you’ll be equipped with certain stats, magic spells, and armor (and you’ll even be equipped with a divine beast!). Additionally, depending on the phase you select, you will have a specific weapon equipped to start the game, ranging from a one-handed sword to dual swords to a glaive. Each weapon has at least one martial arts technique of its own, but some rare weapons have two. If you’re offensive-minded and want to get straight into the action, I recommend starting with fire for its offensive abilities and cool sorcery spells that will allow you to shoot enemies.
2. Spirit
Once inside the demo level, one of the first things you’ll need to pay attention to is your spirit bar and how it changes throughout the game. The spirit bar is at the bottom of the screen, and you’ll see it lean left or right during battle, with the bar leaning left when drained and leaning right when your spirit rises. Your spirit is depleted when you use powerful attacks like martial arts or sorcery, but it will rebound when you land quick strikes or deflect an enemy’s attacks. You need to balance your attack and defense during battle so you know which attacks to use and when while making sure you don’t run out of wits. When the bar is near maximum, it’s the perfect time to unleash your strongest sorcery spells.
3. Morale and Courage
Morale is an important factor in the game. Having high morale will make you stronger and also unlock new sorcery spells. Controlling the battlefield or defeating powerful enemies will help increase your morale level, and the higher your morale, the stronger your character becomes. But it’s not just about morale when it comes to a well-rounded soldier. It is also important to increase your level of courage by locating marking flags and combat flags on the map. For example, if you die at morale level 5, but did not find any flags to increase your courage, you will drop back to morale level 0 when you restart the game. However, if you die at morale level 5 but whether you have located marking or battle flags to increase your courage, you will keep your morale level equal to the courage level you have established.
Since maintaining a high level of courage in the game will prevent you from losing all the morale you have earned, be sure to explore all possible avenues in the demo. At the same time, be careful when approaching enemies with a high morale rank. You will be rewarded if you defeat them, but if you face an enemy with a high morale rank before you are ready, you might not only be wiped out quickly, but that enemy’s morale level will increase by 1 when they defeat you. . , making them harder to beat the next time you face them.
4. Witchcraft
As your morale increases, you will unlock more sorcery spells based on the phase your character chooses. These sorcery spells vary from item to item and include everything from offensive skills to defensive skills. For example: the water phase has stealth spells to help you sneak up on enemies and take them out from behind, while the wood phase has more support and recovery spells to help warriors recover and to heal. Using these spells can help you defeat more powerful enemies, especially when playing co-op with other friends and using different phases within your team.
5. deviate
When fighting one or more enemies, you can defend yourself by deflecting their attacks to avoid getting hit. It will also increase your spirit and position you for your next attack. It’s easier to predict hits from smaller enemies like Demons due to their lack of charge attacks, but larger enemies like the Tiger Man can be really tricky. Even if you don’t target enemies directly, as long as you deflect the attack at the right time, you’ll avoid taking damage, breaking their spirits, and potentially staggering them to help prepare for your next takedown. It’s extremely rewarding to be able to deflect an attack and score a counter-attack at the right time!
