Final Fantasy XVI is the all-new main entry in the Final Fantasy series, releasing on Thursday, June 22.
The Final Fantasy XVI launch trailer, “Salvation”, was unveiled today as part of the PlayStation Showcase.
With only about a month to go until release, this exceptional trailer arrives as we eagerly await the game!
The story of Final Fantasy XVI is set in Valisthea, a land dotted with Mothercrystals – shimmering mountains of crystal that tower over the realms around them, blessing them with ether. People use the ether of the Mothercrystals to power the magic they rely on in their daily lives, hailing Valisthea as “a land blessed in the light of the Mothercrystals”. Yet now the ether begins to fade and the undead stretch ever further. These desperate conditions push nations into conflict and strife.
In the launch trailer, we see the difficult circumstances faced by Bearers, those born with the ability to cast magics at will. And we see the truth behind the Mother Crystals, long believed to have bestowed blessings upon mankind…
The trailer offers a glimpse into the first steps of Clive Rosfield, the game’s protagonist, on a path that will see him take up his sword to resist his cruel fate. We also see the turmoil faced and the determination shown by the Dominants, individuals with the ability to call upon the fearsome power of the Eikons.
As Clive and the Dominants follow what they each see as right, how will their ideals clash? What fate awaits the land of Valisthea? The curtain is about to rise on their story: we hope you will look forward to this story of those who believe that the legacy of crystals has shaped the fate of humanity long enough.
Finally, the trailer includes a wealth of never-before-seen information, including fierce enemies and new locations – so keep your eyes peeled.
We hope you enjoy the launch trailer as you eagerly await the release of Final Fantasy XVI on June 22.
