Today it’s all about Nemesis and his playground: our new map of the iconic Raccoon City Police Station.
Dig below to learn more about our massive new map and the slayer’s new deadly power, its perks, and a special enemy never seen before in Dead by Daylight.
Raccoon City Police Station
The Raccoon City Police Station is one of the most famous locations in the series and featured largely in Resident Evil 2 and 3. Vast and dripping with atmosphere, the unique setting created the perfect challenge for our team. design of levels to sink your teeth into. .
“If you’ve played Resident Evil series, you might know that Raccoon City Police Station was originally a museum. Everything, from architecture to works of art, is magnificent, ”says Stéphanie Hellin, lead artist on the Dead by Daylight team. “It has its own flavor and mood that permeates the entire map and really shapes your gaming experience.”
If you’re a Dead by Daylight veteran and fancy diving into a new map, you’ll be happy to know that the Raccoon City Police Station should keep you busy for a while.
“This is by far the biggest card we have ever introduced in Dead by Daylight,” says Stephanie. “It was a challenge especially with the time we had to create it. Although the frame is huge, each piece has its own unique appearance, making it easy to navigate the map. We can’t wait to see how players adjust to this type of layout and how killers and survivors approach its opportunities and challenges.
While fans can expect a faithful recreation of the Raccoon City Police Station, they can also expect some special twists to help merge the world of Resident Evil with the gameplay and storytelling of Dead by Daylight.
“Our challenge was to ensure that these two worlds not only fit together, but complement each other,” continues Stéphanie. “We had to bring the essence of both games together on one map. The gameplay of Dead by Daylight is very hide-and-seek, so we had to create more exits, entrances and adapt some of the spaces and an artist-level composition while staying true to the source.
In Dead by Daylight, survivors like Jill and Leon will also find themselves confronted with a whole new evil: the Entity.
“The Entity is the essence of Dead by Daylight, adds Stéphanie. “Our partnership with Capcom has given us the opportunity to have the Entity even more present on our map. He feeds on hate, and with these worlds combined, he’s hungrier than ever. The Entity is rarely seen in our game, but here it surrounds you on the map on almost every turn – a perfect representation of the nightmare you are about to experience.
New Slayer: Nemesis
Now that you know about our new map, let’s break down the new killer lurking in its halls: the Nemesis.
Nemesis Power: Virus T
The killer’s new power is the T virus, which causes extreme mutations and can be transferred to others. Its effects increase aggressiveness and strength within the Nemesis.
Special Attack: Tentacle Strike
Tentacles are the tyrant’s best friend.
Tentacle Strike helps increase Nemesis’ strength and range as the survivors he hunts are weakened. Charge, then cast Tentacle Attack on a Survivor to inflict the Infested status effect on them. Contaminating a survivor will make them easier to spot when they cough and vomit while moving around the map. Hit an infected survivor a second time and you will damage their health.
Survivors can heal themselves and their allies by injecting a vaccine found in Supply Crates (not Chests!) On the map. But use them wisely. Vaccines are limited and each injection reveals the location of the survivor for a brief period.
Mutation rate
Hitting a survivor with Tentacle Strike not only infects them, but also increases Nemesis’ mutation rate. Tentacle Strike will gain greater range and the ability to destroy certain elements in the environment.
At mutation rate 2, a sprawling strike can destroy pallets and even breakable walls.
At mutation rate 3, Tentacle Strike’s range will increase, allowing it to attack over pallets, window arches, and other tricky obstacles.
Check your power icon to view your current mutation rate.
Special enemy: zombies
That’s right. Zombies. For the first time in the history of Dead by Daylight, a killer will be assisted by AI characters.
Whenever you play as Nemesis zombies will appear and start roaming the map. Zombie attacks work the same as tentacle attacks. If a survivor is hit by a zombie, they are afflicted with the Infested status. If they are hit again while infected, they will take damage.
Survivors can destroy zombies by throwing paddles at them, and as a Nemesis you can boost your mutation rate by destroying them with a sprawling strike. Zombies will always respawn after a short time.
Nemesis Perk: Deadly Pursuer
Nemesis was designed for the sole purpose of hunting down and destroying its targets. So naturally, at the start of each trial, all of Survivor’s auras will be revealed to you for a short time. The perfect way to get a head start.
Nemesis Advantage: Hysteria
Make an example of any Survivor who crosses your path. Whenever you put a healthy survivor into the wounded state with a basic or special attack, all other wounded survivors on the map will suffer from the Oblivious status effect for a short time.
Nemesis Advantage: Eruption
As Nemesis, you don’t just have muscles, you also have brains.
Hit a generator and its aura will be highlighted in yellow. Now the trap is set. Put any survivor in the dying state and all affected generators will explode, reducing their progress. Any Survivor repairing an affected generator when it explodes will suffer from the Disability status effect for a short time.
As big fans ourselves, we couldn’t be happier to bring the world of Resident Evil to Dead by Daylight and we can’t wait to put these new characters and this map in your hands. Will you lead your Survivor team to safety as Leon or Jill? Or will you become the entity’s new favorite killer as Nemesis?
The Resident Evil chapter will be available in Dead by Daylight on June 15 on PS4 and PS5.
See you in the fog!
