Welcome to the weirdest, most whimsical and fantastic musical spectacle in town: Balan Wonderworld! The curtain is about to rise because tomorrow our humble show will be available worldwide for players of all ages.
In Balan Wonderworld, you play as Leo or Emma, two children who face an imbalance between positive and negative emotions in their hearts. Called into the magical realm of Wonderworld by the enigmatic Maestro Balan, you will have to restore balance to the hearts of twelve lost souls, and in doing so, we also hope to restore balance to the hearts of Leo or Emma.
As soon as you step through the stage door and arrive on Tim’s Island in Wonderworld, you’ll quickly discover that there are a lot of mysteries to be unraveled. Today I wanted to share some of my top tips to get you started on your way, as well as reveal some secrets the game has in store for you.
It’s show time!
Your wardrobe is meant to be changed
While Tim’s Island is the real hub of the game, the Locker Room is your home away from home. You can access the locker room at any checkpoint, and it easily stores all of your spare costumes.
The locker room is perfect for grabbing spare costumes as a buffer for your health, or for swapping out your wardrobe to solve a particular puzzle. Keep in mind that you may not be able to access all areas of a particular Stage the first time you visit it. The locker room is the key to exploring all there is once you’ve collected more costumes from the later stages.
Tims are your new best friends
These fluffy and colorful creatures are manifestations of positive emotions. They are also your constant companions on your journey to restore balance to the hearts of twelve lost souls.
One thing to keep in mind is that the color of your Tims does make a difference, as Tims will have different abilities available to them depending on that. For example, Blue Tims can sometimes destroy items shrouded in negativity (they’ll look quite spiky), while Pink Tims can sometimes bring you items from another location. It’s also worth noting that you can bring up a Tim with you into a scene by holding him in your arms as you access the door of that particular stage. Make sure to keep an eye out for the eggs on your adventure, because you never know what color of Tims you can hatch.
Try to distribute the drops on all the flower patches!
But it’s not enough to keep an eye on the eggs – you also need to take care of the Tims you have. You can give them the teardrop shaped drops that you find through the different steps. These will help your Tims grow taller, give them new attributes, and even change their color.
You can nourish your Tims by distributing drops on the colorful flowers of the Isle of Tims. Why not try dispensing drops on each colored patch and see what happens?
Each stage is a production in three acts
Your adventure in Wonderworld is not over once you reach the end of the game. Once you have completed the game, when you return to Tim’s Island, you will see that you have unlocked an Act 3 for each. chapter, which gives you 12 new steps to cover. Each stage of Act 3 has lots of puzzles that will tease your brain – can you solve them all?
There are additional costumes for you to discover in these stages of Act 3, so I hope you can’t wait to check out all these stages have to offer.
The difficulty of the game will adjust to your skill level
One of our goals for Balan Wonderworld was to create an accessible adventure for players of all ages and skill levels. To this end, we have created a system in which the game can automatically adjust the difficulty of the stages according to the number and types of Negati that appear, to make the game more difficult or a little easier for you.
You will receive a stamp on your results for one step once you complete it. The color of the stamp indicates the level of difficulty at which you have completed this stage, with red indicating the highest difficulty. Your rank is determined by various things, including how many times you’ve taken this step before and how many Negati you’ve defeated.
If you revisit a step you previously took with a high rank, you will see that there are more Negati than before… And maybe they look a little different? You might also come across some strange transparent Negati, but I leave it to you to uncover all the mysteries behind these Negati.
Defeating Negati will help you raise your rank, giving you the chance to see Negati “ abnormal ”
The people of Wonderworld speak their own language
As you can probably see, musical theater has been a big inspiration for Balan Wonderworld. Aside from the mind-blowing musical numbers, one aspect of musical theater that we love is its universality. Musicals are enjoyed by people all over the world, even though the lyrics of the songs are in another language.
We wanted to bring this universality to Balan Wonderworld by telling stories without words. This is why the characters speak an invented language. We felt it was more important to tell these stories of hope, friendship and restoring balance with vivid imagery, music, and a bit of costumed frills than with a particular language.
One of the greatest (and simplest) pleasures in life is the joy of discovery. There are a lot of mysteries in Wonderworld, so while I hope these tips help you on your journey, I also hope you enjoy experiencing whatever you come across on your way. From costumes and Tims to the worlds themselves, I sincerely hope you enjoy the journey of discovery that awaits you in Balan Wonderworld!
