Hu Tao fans are finally getting what they have been waiting for. Although it looked like Genshin Impact was only releasing a new 5-star star in this patch, they are managing to get a second one for the next banner.
That’s Hu Tao, funeral director and user of pyrotechnic weapons. Genshin Impact just released a new teaser video for Hu Tao today, and they have also detailed their skills and talents for the first time. Here’s the sneak peek:
But the most important thing, perhaps, is his actual movements, and this is what we know about his team, based on what we have heard today:
Normal attacks: Execute 6 consecutive spear attacks, charged dash attack (like Xiangling)
Elemental attack “E” – Mariposa Excelsa State – This increases your ATK based on your max HP, consuming HP on activation and knocking down enemies. The attack bonus cannot exceed 40% of his basic attack. Converts their attacks into pyrotechnic damage and increases their resistance to disruption.
Talent – Blood Petals Effect – When attacking his enemies with charged attacks, he will apply bloody petals on them. Enemies affected by Blood Petals will take pyro damage every 4 seconds.
Elemental “Q” Ultimate – Calm of Spirits –
So in short, it sounds like a cross between Xiao, sacrificing health and turning into elemental damage with a spear, and Childe, entering an extended elemental damage state and applying a “mark” to enemies. She’s another DPS character, and if you’ve just landed Xiao, it seems like she can play a very similar role on your team, just with a different element.
When is Hu Tao coming? The Keqing banner expires next Tuesday so that would be my best guess as there are rarely gaps between banners. So you have a few more days to start saving, and it’s still unclear whether your banner will run for two weeks like Xiao and Keqing’s or three weeks like most older ones.
Genshin Impact will undoubtedly continue to release Hu Tao content in the coming days, such as combat videos and such. Stay tuned for those.
