The 2018 God of War game is coming to the PC platform, Sony announced this week. It’s coming out of PlayStation consoles for the first time and will be available to PC gamers on January 14 with a “wide range of options and graphic presets” so PC gamers can configure their scene-less experience accordingly. God of War Ragnarok was not mentioned in the announcement, so it is expected that there will be no news of the launch of that game for the PC platform at this time.
Grace Orlady, Senior Community Manager at Sony Santa Monica Studio, announced the PC version of God of War this week in a post on the PlayStation Blog. With more than 19.5 million copies of God of War sold on PlayStation 4 in August 2021, Orlady said developers “can’t wait to share that experience with a whole new group of gamers on PC.”

In addition to tech like NVIDIA DLSS and NVIDIA Reflex, Orlady said the PC version of the game will also support things like ultra-wide support and custom keyboard and mouse settings, as well as gamepads like DualSense. It will also support different settings to match whatever device you are using, so those on PC will likely end up seeing a better version of God of War if the systems used can handle it.
“Our PC version includes a wide range of graphic presets and options so you can fine-tune your viewing experience based on your settings,” Orlady said. “From higher resolution shadows and improved reflections from screen space to improvements to the ambient occlusion pipeline with GTAO and SSDO, God of War on PC can create stunning visual quality unique to the platform.”
Buying God of War on the PC platform will also provide you with digital content that was also available in the console version. Buyers will automatically gain access to the Death Vow Armor Sets for Kratos and Atreus, the Exile Guardian Shield Skin, the Buckler of the Forge Shield Skin, the Shining Elf Soul Shield Skin, and the shield Dökkenshieldr.
Sony said they will have more details on the PC version of God of War to share as we get closer to the January release date of the PC port.
