It took us a while, but we're finally here. The Free Lives team, along with our friends at Devolver Digital and 24Bit Games, are excited to announce that Gorn is coming to PlayStation VR on May 19th!

For those who don't know, Gorn is an over-the-top gladiator game with a unique, physics-driven combat engine. For Gorn, we wanted to do something that could work in VR only, and that used all its power. We wanted to accept the chaos of the game where everything was done and reward the player for exploring the limits of the program.

Adding Weight to the Earth

Because VR brings the game world so close to the player, we realized that we couldn't rely on pre-baked images. Instead, we felt that interactions – especially impacts – should be resolved in natural and expected ways. To earn that right, Gorn imitates everything in the arena – even the enemy – all the time.

For an encounter to be resolved naturally, we also need to make sure that things they felt as if they had weight. That is no small feat in a VR game, where the player's range makes swiping and throwing objects all the more enjoyable. To create a sense of weight, we added stiffness to the armor so players could see the impact of gravity and various other forces on their shape. Offensive weapons are becoming Gorn's signature beauty, and we're excited about that.

Please

While doing Gorn, we also wanted to rely on the fact that motion controls enabled players to move in any direction they liked. When you add completely customized items to an unprecedented level of movement, it means players can set up extremely incredible hitos and shots.

You can press the enemy shield out of the way to get a clear shot. You can hold his weapon in the middle. You can pick up a defeated foe that you can use as a shield for each other's arrows. You can take a supported arm to use it as a weapon. If you are fast enough, you can grab the mid-air arrow and return to the transmitter.

We're still amazed by the fighting styles that players come up with, and we love that about Gorn. It gives players freedom to fight against their enemies in bizarre and bizarre ways.

And that's a great way to play Gorn. As a gladiator, you don't just survive there. You are here to entertain. Take advantage of the facilities provided by the theaters, exams, and have fun!

If you do not have abdominal bloating and rash, cover it for you Piñata mode. Here, you are free to beat paper enemies until their heads explode in sweets.

We hope you'll enjoy The Gorn – in all its glorious chaos – when it hits PlayStation VR on May 19th!

Special thanks to Devolver Digital and 24Bit games for doing most of the gwork in getting the PlayStation VR version of the game. Thanks again to everyone who emailed us for questions about release date. We are confident that the game will be worth the wait!

Note: Please make sure your play area is organized and clear and adhere to the boundaries of your safe play area.
