With about a month to go until Polyphony Digital releases Gran Turismo 7, the development studio is clearing up the remaining mysteries surrounding its latest racing game. One of them is related to the required storage space.
Gran Turismo 7 aims to deliver the sense of car culture that the series is known for while also being the culmination of the expectations players have for an entry in the series. Today, the storefronts finally unveiled how much storage the consoles will need to store the game.
PlayStation Direct, the official pre-order page, indicates that Gran Turismo 7 will require a minimum of 110 GB of storage space for PS4 and PS5. To put that number into perspective, the PS5 has a storage size of 825GB. Interestingly, a Twitter account that tracks back-end data from PlayStation stores claims that the PS5 version of the game is 89,445 GB. However, this number excludes the Day One patch, meaning the patch will fill up the rest of the game’s storage space at launch. Players can also start pre-loading Gran Turismo 7 on February 25, one week before the game launches.

Polyphony Digital was originally hoping to release Gran Turismo 7 during 2021, but the studio decided to delay the game. The game will contain 420 different cars and more than 90 tracks that will experience realistic weather. Also, unlike Gran Turismo Sport, Gran Turismo 7 will launch with the fan-favorite GT mode, where players can buy, sell and tune up cars for single-player races to earn money and build their own car collection. In fact, the game will allow players to store up to 1,000 vehicles in their garage. PS5 gamers will get a more enhanced experience with its visuals, adaptive PS5 DualSense controller triggers, and fast charging speeds.
What makes this title unique is that this game is the first in the Gran Turismo series to be a cross-generational title, allowing players to enjoy the game on a PS4 or PS5. Players looking for additional content at launch have the option to purchase the Gran Turismo 7 25th Anniversary Edition. This edition comes with the PS5 game disc, a digital version of the game for PS4, the official soundtrack, various additional cars and 1,100,000 in-game credits
Gran Turismo 7 will be released on March 4, 2022 on PS4 and PS5.
