Horizon Forbidden West has officially gone gold, developer Guerrilla Games announced today. The title is now ready for the manufacturing and distribution process with a view to releasing on February 18 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. While the announcement that it will go gold makes no mention of a day one patch, it seems unlikely that I would not do it. Take one.
“We have exciting news for all of you – we are thrilled to announce that Horizon Forbidden West has gone Gold! This means that we are ready to start printing and distributing the game, ready for you to experience Aloy’s journey to the Forbidden West for yourselves in less than a month,” shared Angie Smets, director and executive producer of Guerrilla Games Studio, in the PlayStation official blog. “I want to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone on the team for what we’ve accomplished together and the community for their continued support and enthusiasm as we prepare for launch.”

“Congratulations to the Guerrilla team – it has been an extremely challenging development cycle, but the depth, scope and sheer quality of what they have achieved has blown my mind,” wrote Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, in response to the announcement. . “I can’t wait for our fans to play it.”
As noted above, Horizon Forbidden West will officially launch for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on February 18. Despite initially announcing that upgrading from PS4 to PS5 would require a payment, PlayStation has ultimately reversed that decision and instead it will be a free upgrade path.
