How the Geological Survey of Sweden improved the Minecraft game

Over the past few years, one of the games that surprised us the most is, without a doubt, Minecraft. Mojang’s work has proven to have great potential in many aspects, including his various mods to ensure that all players can customize the world to their liking. While this may already sound promising, the reality is that Minecraft is much more than that.

. It all comes together in the same game that has remained a sales leader for 10 years, growing its gaming community and even getting more to join over time. Many of them are fascinated by the way objects can be made or by the realism with which geology is treated.

Mohjang took care of many aspects of the game except for one.

It is precisely with the latter that there is great curiosity. While it’s true that Mojang has shown us that they’ve taken great care of different aspects of the game, like creating a big open world or continuing to create new content for the game no matter how long it takes, there is. a. aspect they did not work on. In fact, it was included as a collaboration of SGU (Geological Survey of Sweden).

A small element that seeks to increase the knowledge of the players

Anyone who has enjoyed Minecraft at some point, or at least seen someone play, will have been surprised by the craftsmanship or how the character can collect minerals. In fact, the latter can be one of the most realistic aspects of the whole game

Geology being the one that plays a big role as it is represented in a very real way with the way players can collect gold from rivers or even the hardness of each mineral is reflected.

In order to help players gain knowledge, SGU collaborated with Mohjang

This is due to the fact the Geological Survey of Sweden released a mod for Minecraft which adds a much more realistic geology to the game. The goal is to increase the audience’s knowledge of geology, giving players a hands-on method to learn a little more about minerals and even how they can be obtained in nature.
